Yes. Put it in a place where there's flow or the co2 isn't moved around the tank. Co2 tends to concentrate at the top level of the water. You need to move it around the tank for maximum efficiency.

I have yet to get the root tabs but as soon as I get paid on the 10th I'm getting them. In the meantime I've got liquid fertilizer. Which seems to be keeping them from dying. my anubias is doing well and the stuff that looks like kind of like long leafy grass that you put in the back of the tank is doing pretty well but this stuff that looks like Christmas tree is starting to turn yellow at the bottom and brown so it's not doing too well. I pulled it all out and I cut off all the parts that are dying and maybe try it as a floater plant and see if it does better

You have to keep fiddling with it. The problem is they aren't always built the same. But it's DIY, you can get away with a higher then normal 1BPS kind of flow. It's also the beast of the nature with dealing with DIY Co2. The pressure will lessen as the pressure is less i the bottles over time.

@TheWaterBox

I'd use it while the co2 is going. The air pump doesn't "inject" o2 into the tank. It helps create surface agitation in the tank to promote oxygen exchange and you want that so you don't gas your fish.

Once you turn off the valve at night, is it necessary to lift the needle valve, from citric acid mixture.Some say taking out the needle valve stops the reaction and you have to prime the mixture the next day.Please explain.
@TheWaterBox
2 жыл бұрын
Well, if you HOSE (I'm assuming that's what you meant) from the citris acid bottle, then yeh, it stops the reaction since the acid can't get into the other bottle to react. And if you do that, yes, you'll have to repime it the next day because the pressure stopped pulling the acid into the other bottle.

You shouldn't have to. You don't want to. The reaction is paused when you close the needle valve. When you open the valve back up, it'll start the reaction where it left off. The only time you want to shake the bottle is when you are mixing a new batch.

Glass diffuser always worked for me but I'm using a Citric Acid and Baking Soda mix. It sounds like you're not getting enough pressure out of the reaction. Yeast+sugar I find to be a pain to do. How do you have it set up? One bottle or two bottle set up? How are you mixing your yeast/sugar with the water? You're using hot water so it properly dissolves the yeast/sugar?
@joydas4442

I never had a problem. The bottle are meant to take on a lot more pressure and the co2 contraption on thses DIY sets will usually give before the bottles would.

I thought that we cannot use Solenoid Valve for DIY CO2 system as it would build up pressure in the plastic bottle and cause issues/ Is this actually safe? What is happenning to the pressure then?
@TheWaterBox
2 жыл бұрын
Once it's cut off, it should stop the pressure. As long as you have bottles that can handle the correct PSI, you should be good. More on this here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/kaipzqmZiYRpm5w

@TheWaterBox

Go for it. Can't hurt to do it. Just make sure you've got the flow to move the co2 around. It's not that you can't do it. It'll work. It's just a pain in the butt to do it and not as efficient. What you can try to do is instead of using a mister/Atomizer, try going the co2 bell way. Try both and see what works best for you.

I never had a problem with the pressure inside the bottles. Neither does Pepsi or coca cola or other soda companies. I dunno what the max pressure on a sealed bottle is but on a diy system, it's not completely air tight.

Sir can i ask, how would i make sure that may DIY co2 is working great, and make sure that it would not kill my fish
@TheWaterBox
4 жыл бұрын
I guess make sure you have the mix right. DIY Co2 rarely every kills kills fish. The concentrationg isn't pure enough, especially in larger tanks. In smaller tanks it can happen easier but again, rare. More important is not getting the mix into the tank itself. Again, rare. You have to do something really stupid like squeezing the bottle on purpose into the tank. MAYBE if the bottle tip over so there's that.

Using this on two different sized 2 liters, is that my problem? The bottles get stiff, but the gauge says nothing. No CO2 comes out, citric acid is on A, the taller bottle, baking soda is on B, the shorter bottle. Baking soda keeps clumping on the bottom. Any help?

Try mixing your mix with warm water so that the baking soda can dissolve. Make sure to use baking soda and NOT baking powder.

I have regular pressurized co2 and i want to run it to two tanks, I was wondering if you would recommend splitting the lines with a t-valve or just getting a separate bubble counter? I just didn't want to spend a whole lot of money buying an extra manifold and bubble counter, those gla regulator manifolds aren't cheap lol. Also, the videos look great man, what editor do you use? Keep up the good work.

You should be fine. Soda bottles don't fail until over 7 kg/cm2. Your hoses split or pop first but typical vinyl hoses can at the minimum stand up to maybe 4 (depends on type and make). Most likely will pop out of it connection first if anything but you still go a ways to go. If you're still worried, just let a bunch of the co2 out in one go.

Tour TDS is increasing because your carbons are increasing when you inject co2. It's normal.

Hi chung (hope i got that right). If i doubled the mix, say 400g to 1200ml citric acid and then 400g to 400ml baking soda, will it make the mixture longer before i prime one again. Its currently taking me just 7-10 days. Thanks mate!
@TheWaterBox
6 жыл бұрын
I dunno. I don't know if you'd want too unless you double the size of your bottle too. Don't quote me on this and I'm guessing but doubling up on the mix might double up on the pressure too. I dunno though. You'd have to research that or asking done else who's tried it or looked into it. I don't go the diy co2 route anymore. Its either passive like the Fluval 20g kit set up or pressurized or no co2 at all. Depends on set up of the tank.

To be safe, not really. I can't really answer that as I don't know how your set up is and what kind of parameters are in your tank. The DIY isn't as potent as normal pressurized stuff but it's still pump Co2 into your tank.
