I was looking for a towel rack that could hold lots of towels but be free standing as well so we could put it anywhere. After some brainstorming, I ended up with this! Make sure if you build this that you use a dowel as your core as it will keep it from sagging when loaded up. As long as you keep your towel bars balanced, this thing is a workhorse and will hold it all and the lifejackets at the ends! My neighbor bought some clips for his to keep the towels from blowing off, and those definitely work great. This video is a couple years old and they are holding up better than anticipated. The most expensive part is the umbrella weight but this whole thing can be done for less than $50. I made two in this video for our wonderful neighbors with pools as it was the least I could do! Make one for yourself!!
Here are the basic measurements that I used:
Main pole 36"
Arms (8) 23 3/4"
The little stubby pieces that connect all the T fittings are about 1 1/2"
Make sure to put a wooden dowel inside the pvc to give it strength! You want a tight fit.
Thanks for watching!
