These DIY dark rides are so short but still 100x better than those haunted houses at the fair.

I got worried about the wood sounds I couldn’t tell if the track was breaking or it was eerie music! Read the comments sounds like it’s eerie music. I want a behind the scenes of all of it! It looks amazing. You should do a animatronic tour on how you build your animatronics and props. This year looks amazing!!! ;)

Thank You for the kind words. I had a soundtrack playing in the background with eerie music and creaking doors/footstep sounds that the microphone didn't pick up. I also had a soundtrack outside the entrance que line, and in the foyer that set the mood.

@@pixelvisioner Fantastic! Don't know how constant the ride vehicles speed is during the ride but would it be possible to add a kind of on-board sound module to your carts that gets triggered once at the ride start and plays a custom-made track till the end? (Having composed/performed lots of music for my virtual dark rides on my channel i instantly imagine a musical theme for your ride that transforms with each scene, for example played in grammophone style in the hallway, adding exotic jungle drums for the man-eating plants, etc ;) Keep up the great stuff!
@pixelvisioner

@@Theme.Park.Recreations Cool! Actually if you watch my video on my RFID triggered sound you can see how I triggered all of the voice over throughout the ride so it would be in sync no matter what speed the ride vehicle was going. I also used an 8 multi channel sound amplifier for the background music/soundf/x and had each room at a different sound level and mix( just like how Disneyland does it!)LOL!

a lot of those are vintage dark rides, though, preserving the traditions of the originals, if not the originals themselves. you won't find many store-bought props and animatronics on those. a few, but not many. we have to view things within context, eh? :)

@@ryanbarker5217 Absolutely Ryan, I'm working towards building a more modern type of dark ride(Disneyland Fantasy Land type). the classics are a great influence though! My first Dark ride "Monsters of Mayhem" was closer to a traditional carnival dark ride with a more modern influence.

I had a 20' x 30' patio area as well as a 15'x 20' section of my garage in the back section of the ride. As far as the turns I use 4'x4' sections of track so each turn is a 4' section with the curved track. depending on the size and shape of your ride vehicle you will have to experiment ant test it to make sure there is enough clearance for the kart and riders.

You should put a ceiling so it's less drastically different from night time. Also should pad the track system so it's less rattle-y. But cool despite that. Also, any updates? Been a year since you uploaded
@pixelvisioner

I built the majority of the ride under 3 10x 20 canopy's and the rest went through my garage. I made this daytime ride through video to show all of the detail you can't see on the night time ride through as the camera can't pick up enough light to see it all. I've been really busy the past 2 years and are hoping to film some more updates as I get back to building my new ride system which has been on hold all of this time. As for the ratte-ly sound on the track I had to use paint with sand grit to give me even traction along the track floor for the rubber tires on my transaxles and the plastic caster wheels supporting the ride vehicle got kind of loud . I tried using rubber caster wheels but the grit wore them down pretty fast, so I went back to the plastic ones.
@PoleTooke

@@pixelvisioner that makes sense! So cool that you built this yourself! Perhaps thin rubber strips along the sides of the ground track could help? It's more acceptable if rubber that's just being used as a sound dampener wears down than if the rubber being worn out is the tires themselves haha Just an idea tho. Looking forward to seeing your updates when you have time again 😊
