OVERVIEW. At one time, I was really worried about attaching the factory vice on the drill stand. Having caught the center of the future hole with a drill, it was necessary to precisely align the slots and tighten the fixing bolts without displacement. And so - for each hole.
When I started to design MY drilling machine, I already knew that I would look for a fixing method easier, more reliable and more accurate than aligning the oval holes. The choice fell on a scheme based on a door electromagnet. This scheme allows you to instantly position the part in the place of drilling and get accurate holes along the plane and vertically with maximum comfort.
In the mechanisms for fixing the assembly saws, I saw a device for quickly moving the movable jaw. The split nut on the hinge allows not to twist the screw for the new size to the full length, but to move the jaw instantly.
The vise can be used on any flat steel surface.
You can turn them into a small magnetic plate.
I did not remove the standard eyelets: somewhere on the outskirts of objects, they can simply be screwed to any stump with self-tapping screws.
DEVICE.
1. FRAME WITH A FIXED SPONGE is welded from a 30x10 strip, all other elements are fixed to it with screws. Since I do not have a milling machine and I could not mill the reference plane, I provided adjustable support screws, thanks to which the fixed jaw is set in a strict vertical.
2. ELECTROMAGNET HOUSING is attached to the frame so that, if necessary, the height of the magnet can be adjusted with washers - spacers. I will not give the dimensions of the walls and the relative positions of the holes, they will all be different.
3. MOVING SPONGE BRACKET is a piece of square pipe with a wall of 4 mm. It slides on the platform and is connected to the slider with an M 8 screw. Under the bracket made from the plate .............................., the clamping screw stop is pinned.
4. MOVING SPONGE FAST MOVEMENT UNIT is a cut tail loop ...................................... It costs a penny, but it fits into the design, as if it was intended for this. So that the upper part of the split nut does not wedge when it is opened, the tops of the thread crests in the tail and side parts are lowered by the end circle of the grinder.

6. PLATFORM - from sheet 4 mm. Of course, precision is very important when making a slot. It is better to make it with a small allowance, and then modify it with a file.
7. ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT - the simplest, it doesn't even matter what polarity the magnet is powered by. In radio parts I bought a case and a socket 5,5 mm for the power supply plug. I bought a button with a light bulb, it turns on with the power of the magnet.
