(hopefully for the FAQ) How long does it usually take you to fully finish one of your Art Dolls? And what are your best tips for people who want to start sculpting?
@NyaAnimeMangaLuv

Currently, I'm making an art doll of my own for one of my classes, it is a canine and he's one of my characters. I love working on every bit of the project so far! I've been watching your DIY videos since it is my very first time making an art doll and I find it absolutely fascinating! I appreciate your videos and I honestly find them extremely helpful and the work you do is inspiring. Once I have finished my art doll I will gladly tag you on Instagram to show you my work. Thank you so much for these tutorial videos! I love watching them and I look forward to viewing more of your work as well as your lovely videos!

I would really love to see a more in-depth process of this, preferably slowed down. I love cats, and I would love to make this, but I am a 9-year-old without much experience with clay and art as you have, so I would love to see a step-by-step tutorial for this galaxy cat. Thanks in advance!

Hello, random internet stranger here! Now, I'm nowhere NEAR as talented as Kaypea, but I've found that looking at tons of references helps a lot for sculpting clay. For painting, I usually try to look at color references for realistic colors or the color wheel for colors that go well together, as well as references for the theme I'm going for. As you can undoubtedly tell, I love using references, but they are very helpful to get a good sense of what you want. And yes, learning tips from people like Kaypea can be invaluable too, just be careful not to accidentally steal someone's work. A quick tip before you begin, you probably will not like your first creation, but that's okay. You are 13 (I'm guessing since you mentioned you were 9 in your comment) and you have a lot of life to try and make something or several things that you like. There will definitely be some days where you don't want to make art and, again, that's okay. I'm pretty sure that Kaypea would tell you that they had a lot of setbacks, bad days, and even days they felt like they wanted to quit. Just keep going and make things that are fun for you! Life gets kinda boring when you aren't doing at least SOME things you like or enjoy. And yes, school isn't always fun, but you still have to do it. Also, try not to mention your age online, people are weird and stupid sometimes. Anyway, I hope that helps somewhat and good luck hun!

Your creatures always turn out so beautiful. I love watching them come to life in your videos. By the way, a question for your q and a: Have you ever tried using patterns to sew your creatures bodies? If so, what's your opinion on it? Is it easier or more difficult than your current "free handed" method? Which method do you suggest?
@KaypeaCreations
6 жыл бұрын
thank you so much! Personally I do not use patterns. One reason being I'm god awful at sewing and I feel I wouldn't be able to stuff the doll as firmly as I like. However if I were to make a series of the same animal it would certainly help cut down time and have them all the same shape. I think it really comes down to preference. I used to make patterns starting out but found this way to be faster for me :)

Hey Kaypea, I am thinking on trying to make my own posable art dolls! You have inspired me to give it a try, but for the real question what type of make tools do you use? Like the tools to shape the outline of the eyes, mouth etc. Thank you! Edit: How do you sow the leg fur to the body? And what kind of stitch dose on need to pull it all together? Is there anyway you could make a video on that or try to explain it? Thanks again!
@KaypeaCreations
7 жыл бұрын
+Derpy Cookie it's the only tool left from a sculpting tool pack I got from hobby lobby haha I lost the rest but even I needle can help with the little details like the eyes! I use a ladder stitch to join the two fabrics where I made the slit I'm the body fabric for the legs to go through :)

Hi! I'm quite new to your channel (I joined just over a month ago) and your work is very inspirational! It is always fascinating seeing your new art dolls but I have a question. I am making an art doll for a friend but it is neither cat, dog nor dragon it is a wyvern. I understand how to make wings (pretty simple) but I don't know where to start having only two legs. I haven't seen any wyvern like art dolls and I'm not sure where to start. Do you have any ideas?
@KaypeaCreations
7 жыл бұрын
+ThatFoxJynx thank you so much for your kind words! I've made a few wyverns before and plan to make videos! They aren't as hard as you think! Most of the weight will be carried by the wings and treat the back legs like any other armature I make. I just make sure to sculpt the feet a little wider to better support itself!
