Using scrap yard gym equipment (Tony Little Gazelle trainers) fabricated an adjustable bimi top, or canopy for the fishing boat. Bit sticky yet, nothing had a chance to wear in.
FINALLY A PURUS FOR THE TONY LITTLE JIM SET.. YOU ARE A GENIUS.

Tony Little should be monetizing you for this. Most useful application of his equipment yet! (Just saying…. He’s gotta be wondering why so many 50 year old males suddenly flooded his search engine.)

I have never seen a more adjustable boat shade than what you made. It looks very sturdy and strong. Are these available? These could be manufactured. Most everything else is cheap or flimsy. Best I've seen.

I used this for one and a half years with canvas top, worked fine. Then I found a side by side roll bar, which allowed me too put a hard top on made of corrugated plastic sheets, so I wouldn't have to put up or down (stow) when long hauling ....

Without try to figure out everything you did to make this could you make simple set of "DIY" plans or maybe sketch w/ some simple instructions? Maybe you could sell on Ebay - I would buy set from you! Although I can see & understand roughly what you did here - I can also imagine a lot of frustration trying to achieve what you have already done...Patent?

This is awsome, just trying to figure out... would one have to use the Tony Little in order to make this work, or can i just use regular 2" pipe?
@Antlertine
9 жыл бұрын
billylwv Normal 2" tubing would work because that is basically what this is. The only thing you would have to redesign is the mounting points and a system for allowing them to pivot
@Antlertine
9 жыл бұрын
Antlertine IE. Metal bar (mounted to the gunnels) with two metal rods (welded or bolted at each end)for the 2" pipe to pivot on mounted through the pipes (that's basically what the Tony Little pieces are)

what are the dimensions on this canopy
@Antlertine
9 жыл бұрын
It was made using Tony Little Gazelle Trainers so there were no specific dimensions. Once the Gazelles were mounted on the hull sides, the rest was custom made to the boat width (Just marked, cut, and pinned. Sorry.

No problem, I really like this design I have one more question. Is that strong enough to hold 40 lbs of solar panels on top if you didn't raise or lower it? Or do you think it would be safe for them once again thanks for the video
@Antlertine
9 жыл бұрын
Tom Ziesmer Plenty strong, I was hanging off the frame, and I weigh in at 215 - 220 lbs. almost no side to side play.

It’s a conspiracy. Fine print and closed captioning. I had to ask my wife three times the other day if she could hear me. Finally, she wrote it down for me, “For, the third time, yes!”
