Hey FliteTest, I know this comment might get lost in the crowd, but I just want to let you know that this kind of episode format, where you documented the design process alongside the original review of the project was awesome! I assume I'm not only speaking for myself, as I love watching the prototypes become better and better as the designers chug along through the difficulties (remember Jeremy's episodes?). The feeling I get is reminiscent of the old FliteTest days with the Sweeeede and Peter and Josh Scott, a great set of hosts reborn in this newer generation of just-as-awesome hosts! I certainly hope this trend continues as future designs are released. Can't wait to build another Andres-certified plane!!!

This is possibly the best RC vid I’ve seen. THIS is why I LOVE RMRC. no one, NO ONE as in manufacturers, would release a product, Nano Goblin, and then proceed to get really stuck into helping FTest produce a cheap alternative. For me, this shows true love for the hobby, the open willingness to share and assist. I’ve got the Nano Goblin. The only problem is I cannot get the correct batteries for it here, in the UK. I made my own battery pack for it, andLOOOOVE it!!! Took me sooo long to get hold of it but was worth it. I cannot work due to PTSD caused by almost two decades of seeing to many people in bits, shot, witnessing man at his worst etc, so very broke, but due to it being so cheap I was able to save and get it. Even my 2 daughters, Daisy (3) and Isabella (8) love the Nano Goblin!!!!Working on trying to achieve the impossible, aka getting s full size Goblin. My dream plane. FTest, great work guys, RMRC, your a one of a kind company, you really care about the hobby. Thank you for producing such awesome planes!!!! Hence, I’m a loyal customer. It’s hard as in getting your products here, but totally worth the effort. Keep doing what your doing as your rocking it!!! Take care all, kindest regards Dean Wales, UK

I agree with Wendell, the design/test process has become an excellent facet of the FT vids. The build episodes are fantastic, and these design and test episodes compliment the build videos. The Sketchy Factor episodes are hysterical and the icing on the cake. And today on The Sketchy Factor.

I am really glad to see this design become a reality - As a slope pilot, we've been crying out for a cheap plank wing (like the very famous JW wing) - and now, we have it at last ! Re the heavy nosed wings - this is what made the JW a legend for DS pilots (lords of the dark side of the hill) allowing speeds of 200mph to be achieved with a foamie ! I predict slope soarer development !

I made one a few months back as a mid-mounted kfm2 airfoil wing with the motor inline with the wings and it flew great. I used eCalc to get some data on my stock setup which estimated a 38min flight time with: -2200mah 3s -30amp ESC -eMax 2204 motor -5x4.5 Tri-blade prop. Best of luck!

First of all lots of love to flite test from India 🙏.U guys make really nice videos and the way u work with a simple sheet of foam board is just top notch. And of course Andres, man u seem to be blessed with these aeromodelling skills. Ur planes are so tempting both for building and flying. Looking forward to more designs. And BTW we all miss David and Josh Scott. Those two made every FT episode a memorable one and the new ones are also doing good in maintaining the legacy (no pun intended)☺. Regards..

I've been curious about something, and I hope maybe you guys can help answer this. I have an idea about how to start DIY super cheap, but wanted to see what you thought. Maybe this could even be an episode? Anyway, I know not everybody can afford to start by buying all the components needed to do DIY. But what about buying a $100 RTF kit, and using all of the components in the included plane, to build a DIY plane? That way you don't have to have a transmitter, controller, servos, etc. You already have some you can use. Might be cool to see what you guys can come up with, using different cheap RTF kits, and taking them apart to build some of your DIY plans?

While a bit off topic, seeing how good Andres is with CAD, 3d modeling, making 2d plans to rebuild in 3d foamboard, not sure if he would want to do some tutorials? I know there are a lot of fusion 360 tutorials and what not, but not specifically for making flitetest style planes. It would be nice to see a walkthrough of designing a plane on 3d cad (like the edge video but more in depth), how he designed the inside to house electronics, and flattening to 2d plans. I think the community can put out some great stuff if we see the process, can learn the process, and get creative.

Dear FliteTest, In the past you’ve done trainer builds of real-world planes like the FT Cub. You guys should do a Cessna 150, 172, or a Maule M7. I feel like these would be VERY popular not only for the trainer world but the scale and STOL world(s). I love your guys’ videos and build kits and they always turn out looking awesome and flying great so I would have no doubt that the 150, 172, or Maule would be a great addition to your store/channel. Thanks! -Hayden Fisher

Slow down, I can't keep up! Still waiting for Andres to design a Hughes H-1 Racer for me.... I'm not letting up on this, I'll keep posting this time and time again - I'm not nearly the designer that Andres is, and I want a good flying H-1! Plus it would be a cool challenge. Picture the episode - Andres can dress up and talk like Howard Hughes testing it in "The Aviator"... It would be hilarious and awesome and fun. You guys even have access to a bean field to "land" it in... Also: still waiting for that P-40 Warhawk there guys... you keep teasing it in these videos....

Wings are a bit finicky to pitch stability. They usually use airfoils that have a trailing edge reflex. My suggestion would be to make it overly nose heavy, and use up elevon trim to compensate. This forced nose up imparts pitch stability just like a reflexed TE airfoil.
