When you cut the 45 degree bevel, did that cut into to zero clearence line and mess up the line for when you want to go back to 90?
@foxhallww311
Жыл бұрын
I don’t believe so. The line was still intact. However this saw doesn’t have an anti-lift feature like the festool or Milwaukee have. so angled cuts are unbalanced.

Are there different tracks? My Kreg saw does not fit my track!

I think Kreg has a proprietary track. It’s not like the Makita and festool where they all are interchangeable. The new Milwaukee track saw should have the same interchangeable track when it comes out.

I bought this same kit new in the box from my neighbor at their moving sale. Had 2 62 extra tracks with it. Also the track that came with it. All for $45.00. Also bought a ts 75 Festool with the tracks for $ 75. 00. My neighbor is a retired cabinet maker. I also bought his Saw stop table saw for $500.00 from him. The Festool and Saw stop table saw was only used a few times. He is also going to give me a Ts 55 Festool with tracks included. This guy had a lot of stuff he is trying to unload. We've been neighbors for 12 year's. He is moving to Florida to retire.

The side to side play I had was with the motor/blade to body assembly. If you held the blade guard and reached over to hold the handle/ body of saw I had movement of about 3/32" side to side. So when plunge cutting the saw could move out of square. This had nothing to do with the saw track to saw relationship. Kreg sent me another saw that was much better. The only saw on the market that I know of that has tilt feature help on the track is the Makita. It is a washer you push into the track slot built into Makita tracks only.I have 3 tracks saws and they all have good points and some minor bad points to each one. The Makita I have has no movement between blade and saw body. This saw I have is made in the United Kingdom. They are now made in China so I can not speak about the quality of them. Next is the Festool and then the Kreg saw. To me dollar for dollar the Kreg is the best bang for ur money. The Kreg only missing feature is the anti tilt the Makita has.

I have the entire system with all accessories and have been using it for about a year. It is a great saw and system once you get to know it's quirks and get it dialed in. I have three tracks. One is always on the table. Two more are joined together to rip plywood. If you are going to do that, you will also want both sets of accessory guides. One set does up to 13" and the other up to 24" I wish they were made out of metal. They seem like they will wear out or break after a while. None the less, they are good if you set them correctly and constantly check your cuts. If you don't, you may notice that one might have slipped and you just cut a dozen boards that are off. I learned that the hard way. Second, you must be accurate with each cut because if you aren't, when you place your board up agains the stop on the table, you can end up with a crooked board. Third, you must set up and calibrate the table and measuring guides accurately. I rip a lot of long boards from plywood, then cross cut them on the table with an extension side table. When you do that, you must get your board up against the stop under the track one more on the table, and usually a guide mounted to the table. When your ripped board is long, it can be difficult to get it up against all the stops and guides. As it gets shorter, there is no problem. Lastly It is designed to measure from the zero clearance to the stop on the right. It is a right hander's saw. When cutting, you must depress a button on the handle while lowering it. There are markings on the saw for different thicknesses of wood. I was cutting on the driveway with a sheet of solid foam under my 3/4" plywood. I either didn't have the depth stop set correctly or it slipped. I cut clear through both the wood and the insulation into the driveway. The point is, you can't forget to do anything with this saw. Check and double check everything. If you do, one person can do things with it that would take two with a table saw, or not be able to do at all. That is why I have almost $1500 in it.

Hey Austin! Thanks for watching. I never really understood why most track saws have the blade on the right side either. I’m left handed so it doesn’t bother me. But the majority of people are right handed. Maybe the inventor of the track saw was left handed and he was like “this is the way!”

There is no other track saw that can do all the Kreg Adaptive Cutting System can do. Period. It can replace a table saw, a panel saw, a miter saw, and a jointer. Sometimes those tools are quicker/better, but you can accomplish the same operations with this tool. It excels at cutting sheet goods with precision.

@@foxhallww311 Thank you very much. I am a DIYer. I studied everything about the saw and table before I bought it. It was a major purpose for me. I liked what it could do and my wife liked it because I couldn't be injured with it. I wish they made the table long enough to take a full sheet the long way, but that would have made it very large and hard to store. I understand their decisions. One more thing. There are a lot of parts to it. However, the instruction book is very good. None the less, it will take someone a couple hours to get it together and dialed in. After having done it once, I could probably do it now in 30 minutes. To me, the saw is solid and pro quality. It should hold up well. If not, Kreg's technical service is top notch. I have contacted them and found them to be excellent. I don't recommend using the saw without a track. Also, the saw itself is not not too expensive to replace, if necessary. One more thing. Someday, the table top is going to be worn out. That should be a long time away but replacement tops are available.

@@russmartin4189 I'm interested in the system for the reasons you mentioned - one tool that can do a lot of things. I don't have room for a giant cabinet table saw with extension slider tables and outfeed tables all around it. I want one compact, storable system that can make any arbitrary sized cut. This comes pretty close. As a thought experiment, I think about how one would handle the worst-case scenario ... cutting a 47.5" x 95.5" panel out of a sheet of plywood that does not have a reliable factory edge. You actually can do that with this system with the table extensions, though it might be hard to make a perfectly parallel 47.5" rip cut using the tape-measure based parallel guide system. Using two tape measures to make a parallel cut seems a bit imperfect.
@russmartin4189

@@kdietz65 After spending about $1200 on all the bells and whistles for the Adaptive Cutting System, I bought a contractors table saw on wheels for two reasons. Though I had the parallel guides for 2 pieces of track, I didn't always make a perfectly parallel cut. Also the guides are flimsy and prone to slip. So, I cut the plywood about a quarter inch bigger, then run it through the table saw. I needed to make a lot of small pieces from the ripped 96" pieces, so then I used the Adaptive Cutting System with the table extension and stops. You have to make sure you get the wood up against those stops, so before you make the cut, push it up against them with some force. You could be out a 1/16th, and you would have wonky pieces instead of square pieces. I did that and then I learned. The point is, you don't just set the thing up and chop chop chop. It is finicky and you have to be a perfectionist. Table saws are better in some ways. My wife brings up the fat that we have this $1200 thing in the garage that is not being used much. I have told her I couldn't have made the big project I made without it. It was perfect for cutting panels of various sizes. The videos make it look easy. It is not difficult, but you do have to make sure everything is right before you cut. By the way, for a lot of things, the "RipCut" that you attach to a circular saw will do fine. Then, run it though a table saw. I bought the Metabo HPT which I bought for $400 3 years ago. It is a good saw. www.toolnut.com/metabo-hpt-c10rjsm-15-amp-10-inch-table-saw-with-fold-and-roll-stand.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwjt-oBhDKARIsABVRB0x8gdwdyDjGlDRWhG4N71HGGNEQ6K3Nk-muqzon5ADP96oNk3aQsCoaAofHEALw_wcB

I also recently purchased the Kreg as a second choice. The Makita was my first choice, but unavailable for love nor money. Now I'm glad to have the Kreg. It lacks a few refinements of higher priced saws, such as having the arbor automatically lock when you put the saw into blade changing mode. What makes the Kreg 'better' than the Makita is that the Kreg is part of a larger system. The company has a number of well-thought-out attachments that allow the saw to all-but replace a table saw. Makita doesn't have anything similar. Festool does, but it is a lot more money.
