absolutely great project! I'm using same protection relay YX-X804 and it gives a delay when switching to battery I see you fixed that issue with buck-boost converter XL6009, but I didn't get do we need additional capacitor there or XL6009 can handle powerdrop by itelf? realy look forward to your reply, thanks!

Thank you 😊, I too tried adding capacitor at the load end still the delay cannot be fully avoided. Buck boost converter works fine but high current converters are rare, Reason for the delay in switching is due to the capacitors inside the SMPS, it can be solved by adding a load resistor at SMPS but i didn't tried it. Hope you got what you need.

@@TechRallyofficial maybe my explanation is not good problem is in delay of relay switching from power to battery, that reboots my router I don’t think adding resistor will solve it right?

First need to understand why there is delay in switching, when power goes off ther capacitor in the SMPS will discharge slowly from 12 to 0v. Your relay will be on till it reaches 5v which is the main reason for delay, basically realy operation time will not restart the router.

Let us build it again, with minimal components/modules. Over engineering is fun, but has its headaches

But never compromise on seafty since its Li-ion battery, Thank you 😊

I wouldn't change a thing. These builds are awesome and they help you understand how individual electronic modules work, and how they can work together with other modules. And let's be honest, it also looks cool as f**k.

At this point its much more cost effective to buy a used ups and replace the batteries with new ones. This way you can power many verities of devices instead of wifi only. And a real ups is way better built and wont crash into million pieces like your acrylic will when it gets accidentally bumped off the wall.

Even if it's a commercial ups if you drop or bump it will break because of battery weight, I am not sure which ups your referring to 220V AC or 12 DC, a 220v computer ups can run only few hours for a wifi router reason the loss in conversion and a 12v commercial ups also can't support wifi 6 routers.. Thanks for watching 🙂
