Tip: Always use straight-edged finished wood for the supports that drawers and cabinets rest on.

You guys do such a good job. We are about at the same building process as you guys and it’s so nice to watch you guys build your van out.

What great use of space! I'm thinking of doing something similar for my toilet situation so seeing your process is really helpful. Keep up the great work!

Hey! Would love to know how that drawer is holding up? :) will be making a pull out toilet in our own van next week and wanted to know if you're happy with how you did yours ☺️

We love it! Definitely recommend! We did put the ventilation hole a little too close to the side of the van which led to an annoying install, because we had to get through some of the frame. We’d be mindful of that if we installed it again!

how are you liking this now? i scraped my first toilet box that i used 2019-2023 and thinking about building a drawer like that. has it held up with your weight over time?

Yes it has held up amazingly. There is no creaking or anything in the drawer. The only annoying thing is that the vent tube occasionally falls out of the toilet. A zip-tie has helped with that.

How is it holding up in terms of weight of person etc? Any changes you would make now that it has been a year?

It has been almost perfect actually! I’d maybe make the unit a couple more inches deep because the lid of the toilet clips the upper drawer handles. Our couch could use an additional couple inches of depth too, for more comfort. That said, we still love the design and those things have been a very minor inconvenience.

Respectfully, shouldn’t you turn the toilet 90 degrees. This way you have it, your legs have to be kept closer together. If you switched it 90 degrees, you legs can extend further. I am designing a toilet pull out just like this.

I’m not really sure what you mean. We have the whole hallway of legroom/space in front of the toilet with the way it’s currently positioned. Our feet still touch the floor of the van. Good luck with yours! Hope it’s awesome.

@@darian.exploresWhen you are sitting no the toilet, you are facing the front of the van. I would have thought that you should be facing the cabinet when sitting. You have more room on the right side to take care of any issues. When I get to this stage, I will try both positions.

@@beachliving3127 I understand. If we turned it 90 degrees than we couldn’t have a drawer face on the toilet. Also, it would be pretty tight, especially for Ricky since the drawer takes up majority of the hallway’s width. It is a compact space, but accessing the handle isn’t difficult (luckily).
