Thanks for explaining what to do with the shared saddle. I have an ashtray and I've never been quite sure what a professional would do. Now I know it's what I've been doing all along.

I feel like a hard tail stratocaster is the perfect beginner guitar. I have a real Fender Strat with a trem now, but when I was a kid I had a hard tail Squier Stratocaster. They're perfect for learning how to intonate and set up the action, without having to worry about the claw and spring tension and all that. My only issue with the old school Tele bridge is that you have to split the difference with intonation sometimes. But the old school Tele bridges look so much cooler than hard tail stratocaster bridges on a Tele.

It takes longer but I actually prefer to intonate the guitar NATURALLY. Just spend a lot of time outside with friends, drink plenty of water and take a B vitamin supplement

This video helped me Tremendously! Because I had No Idea how or what intonation was. And I'm going to get a Telecaster in a couple days. Big help!

it was hard to find a video to understand, that i have to turn it to the right, so the bridge goes to the back if the 12th fret tone is too high. thanks

It is a shared saddle so what does it mean to split the difference between the two? If you have one string that is well tuned you're gonna ruin the other string intonation

I also want to know that meaning, split the difference

Than why do some people play the harmonic on the 12 fret instead of fretting it?

They say if that happens. measure spec from the nut move all saddles forward to that spec and start from fresh factory spec an start to pull back accordingly

Yeah, this somehow didn't help me in any way with my telecaster. No matter how far I turn the screw either way, nothing changes between the string being fretted or open. Like I'll literally turn it like 6 turns and no matter what, there'll still be like a quarter step difference between the note fretted at the 12 fret and open at the 12th fret. I basically can't play anything past the 9th fret with the low E being open. I feel like throwing the fucking thing out the window.

Is the saddle moving? You may have to push the saddle with your fingers after adjusting the screw.

What do you do when the saddle is back as far as it can go and the string is steal sharp?
@Bag-Of-Toys

put the bridge (saddle) for that string back in a neutral (middle... between the bottom and the top) area and RETUNE entire string. then repeat processes.

I do intonation with a Peterson strobe tuner. They're way more accurate than your typical clip on type.
