+Undercover Monsters Hey, great vid, man! Like seeing you actually respond to people too, so got a question for ya (hopefully in enough time for you to answer!). I'm making my daughter into a zombie and need to start clothes tonight/tomorrow to have done by Saturday), and I only bought the fake blood to use, but I'm wanting to do the "sweat, mold, etc" crud too now, so would it work just as well using regular food coloring (which I already have) versus going out and buying the Rit fabric coloring? TIA! :)
@UndercoverMonsters
9 жыл бұрын
Angie Carter Barlow I honestly can't say for sure because i have never used food coloring. I would think it would be good enough, except that the colors would probably be very weak and you would need a lot of food coloring.

hello ! is it okay to use normal red paint we use for painting instead of fabric paint ??
@redpumpkin28
8 жыл бұрын
I don't know about regular paint...maybe if you water it down some though? If that's actually what you mean to do, sorry if that sounds like a stupid suggestion, lol! I was going to try using food colouring for my daughter's zombie costume I made her last Halloween from clothes I bought at the thrift store, but ended up buying the RIT fabric dye (at Walmart) because I didn't want to take my chances on it not looking good, and WOW! I ended up with no regrets spending the extra money to do that, versus using stuff I already had on hand, cause it looked SOOOO freakin realistic. I wish I could post pictures of it!

I took a white shirt today and cut it all over and then took it outside and scrubbed it on some green algae growing on some dock steps and I put different kinds of dirt on it and rubbed that in. Then I put the shirt in an old burn pile and scrubbed the charcoal from the fire and the soot onto it. So far the algae got me the best results. Tomorrow I will probably add fake blood and I am nervous that after all that work I will do a cruddy job with the blood. This tutorial helped especially since the shirts you made have the blood pattern I am going for. Other shirts I have seen have too many drip lines going across them and I personally don't like that because it looks too painted.
@G0SuBunnY

That algae deal sounds a bit sketchy lol.. be safe. But what i like to do for blood is put it on my hands and smear it on the clothes as if you were being grabbed. Sometimes i also direct the blood in one certain area as if that is where you had been killed.

Hey! I love the look of these and used it for a distressed costume look for a show. The costumes looked great but just FYI- Rit dye doesn't set well without heat, and even then we wound up with lots of color transfer off of the clothes. I'm going to try fabric paints next time instead- those can be set with just an iron.
@UndercoverMonsters

We have actually changed up the process a bit because we discovered that the dye is meant to be set by microwaving your clothing after you dye it. That has made a significant difference.

+liten böna I'm sorry but that is wrong information. The blood i used is for professional applications. It is used in Haunted Houses all over the world. It is a permanent blood paint that is waterproof on most surfaces. It will stay looking wet & fresh even after it dries. Also it is not cheap. The blood you are speaking of is very sticky, but will work for adding extra blood to your costume. But if you want a permanent costume you need permanent blood.

Hi I just wanted to let you know that I got a lot of great ideas from watching your video I loved the idea with the serrated edge knife I used it on shirts for my son and I thought they came out pretty good I really thought that was a wonderful idea. Didn't want to tell you one thing that I came up with I don't know if it's good or not but it worked really well for me I ended up taking teabags and boiling them and I took the teabags and I put them on the shirts and it made a really nice yellow and brown color that was very realistic looking. Because I had ran out of my yellow and I didn't have time to go get any so I just compromise tonight it ended up working out really well thanks for your advice I enjoy your videos
