DIY Humidifier & Evap. Air Cooler! humidifies and cools a large area. This unique design requires No Evap Pads! (so no mold issues) and works great! (it's based on a commercial unit i owned years ago. that one hung strips of "screen-like" material vertically and circulated air across and through the water-saturated screen. *to keep it simple, i just bunched up the screen under the pvc frame... but it works all the same). great for use in the winter (to relieve that "dry skin itch") and good in the summer for air cooling (dry and semi dry climates). note: if using the unit mostly for humidification (versus cooling) then the screen and fan are both optional. *the 100+ water streams that the unit creates generate enough air turbulence or air movement in the bucket to produce the "conditioned" air. if planning on building it, make sure to watch the last 30-35 seconds of video. i've listed several extra ideas and final thoughts on screen. a few details: bucket is a hefty 13.3 gallon wastebasket (chosen for it's large size, relatively square profile and flat bottom). fan is a 12VDC auto fan. runs on battery, solar panel or wall current. 200gph water pump. 10 feet of clear tubing. all pvc is 1/2". Four (2 foot) pieces, six 90 degree elbows, 3 tee's (2 non-threaded and one threaded) and 4 end caps.
