7L/hr of Mist for 1/5 the cost of a real Industrial Humidifier!
Version 1 is alright, but you’ll need a rain jacket for Version 2 - SUBSCRIBE or Have DRY SKIN

You probably know that temperature plays a big role in making your room comfortable to live in. What you might not know, is that humidity can be even more important. Low humidity can cause everything from snoring to cracked hands.
Throughout the years, humans have relied on two main types of humidifiers to maintain the optimal 45% humidity: Evaporative Humidifiers and Ultrasonic Humidifiers.
Evaporative humidifiers fall into one of two categories: cool mist, and warm mist.
Here's how they work.
Cool mist humidifiers rely on air that is blown over a water-saturated wick to evaporate the water into the air. This wet wick can harbor bacteria and fungus if not cared for properly.
Warm mist humidifiers use the familiar technique of boiling water to evaporate it. This is the same method used to distill water, and therefore has the least potential to release bad substances into the air. (It's a bit more dangerous though, given the heating element required.)
The other type of humidifier, the ultrasonic humidifier, simply consists of a small piezo-electric disk sitting under the water's surface that vibrates very rapidly, at an ultrasonic frequency (that's where it gets its name) This vibration creates tiny water droplets that quickly evaporate into the air to form a mist that is pushed out of the humidifier by a fan.
For our DIY Industrial Humidifier, we opted to utilize a 12 Head Ultrasonic Atomizer that can produce 7L of mist an hour. To propel the mist, we are using a computer fan with a 12v power supply (This will get better in Version II). These are both powered on and off by a relay that is connected to a Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi has a temperature/humidity sensor attached that is programmed to trigger when the humidity level dips under 45%.
In our next video, we will be showing off our Version II improvements and giving you a more detailed design/build guide.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. WE ARE DOING THIS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY.
