this guy is great, out of the 5 questions I had pertaining to my jeep (JK, but similarities amount many jeeps) 4 of them were answered so well I was able to do it myself. This most recent one here (wire harness) was great because my LED bar came with two fog lights as well and the wiring harness but the wing harness was cheap and i wanted to run the two fog lights and LED bar separately. Went to Advanced Auto and for $30 bought 3 packs of 14 gauge cable, connects, two fuses and relays and 30 amp fuses and was able to make the wiring harness go where I WANTED it to go as well as hook it up to the rockers I had bought.

Know this was posted years ago. I have grounded to the Kawasaki Mule frame. In line fuze continues to blow as soon as it is inserted. All positive and negative wires (14 gauge) are soldered. Relay is used. At a loss. Harness came with LED light bar and two additional spots. Harness was not long enough so used 14 gauge to lengthen.

Good video. Best 4x4 channel on the web by far. How would I wire my new lights to a Toyota OEM fog light switch? I have blanks in my 80 series dash where I want to put a toyota fog light switch. I would rather not use a generic off/on switch. Thanks
I put a ledbar on my car bumper and used the ground cable to hookup the switch. It's straight on the battery but its on the ground cable

I got the same exact on off switch as yours from beginning of the video around 1:30. Could we just cut off the on off button switch and add a new switch? I understand we can hook up positive, negative, and the other wire go straight to accessory for auto on when key is in and off when key is off.

An alternative method would be to use a remote starter solenoid for a Jeep or a Ford/Mercury mounted on the inner fender well. Then, get the necessary wire to hook up the circuitry. Use a switch rated at least 25 amps......50amps would be even better and an inline fuse holder that has the matching gauge wire leads for splicing into the current supply wire going to the switch. It wold also be a good idea to put a circuit breaker instead of a fuse, in the heavy gauge wire going from the solenoid to the lights. That way, if the lights were to be wrecked by a limb or some other object, that circuit breaker would cut the heavy current to the light structures.
@joeldiaz853

Your relay is 40a and your in-line fuse 30a how did you determine what size fuse to use? I remember total wattage / voltage = Amps I.E. I have 60w ditch lights X 2= 120W / 12V = 10A Is that right?

I used your diagram to wire my lights but the switch comes with 4 wires one is to be connected to the relay and one to the fuse. I’m using a relay, where should I connect the wire that is supposed to be connected to the fuse? My understanding is that the relay is already connected to the fuse

I bought some 20amp rated Marine switches that only have two connections. I assume this is because they're strong enough to not need a relay. Is it safe to wire them without a relay? I'm only running two 4inch pod LEDs per switch. Im also planning on each circuit including a 15amp fuse at the battery to fail before the switches. These are quality switches that cost me a pretty penny which is why I'm confident in them and also hesitant to throw them away for some that will accept a relay circut.
