Hey guys! For the month of June I will be incorporating colour into each of my tutorials. Today I have another square knot pattern for you but this one is a little different. A great pattern to incorporate into a macraweave. Let’s get started.
Set up - Cut 5 pieces of 6mm rope, each piece is 1.5 m in length. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots. Cut 5 pieces of 3mm string - 2 pieces of peach latte, one soft fruit, one mocha and one blush - each piece is 2 meters in length.
Using the two cords on the left as your filler cords tie 12 square knots (SKs). Fold the mocha string in half and use the two sides as your working cords.
Using the next two cords to the right as your filler cords tie 11 SKs. Fold the peach latte string in half and use the two sides as your working cords.
Using the next two cords to the right as your filler cords tie 10 SKs. Fold the blush string in half and use the two sides as your working cords.
Using the next two cords to the right as your filler cords tie 9 SKs. Fold the soft fruit string in half and use the two sides as your working cords.
Using the two cords on the right as your filler cords tie 9 SKs. Fold the last peach latte string in half and use the two sides as your working cords.
Tuck the ends into the back of two SKs. Tuck in the remaining cord using the end of your tapestry needle. Repeat that process all the way across your work.
Leave as is or add a filler cord to the bottom of your work using double half hitch knots. Cut a piece of 6mm rope that is 70 cm long to use as your filler cord and tie 10 DHHKs across the bottom of your work.
Leave the ends of the filler cord hanging or tuck them into the back of your work. Skip the first DHHK and tuck them into one or two of the next DHHKs and cut off the ends.
See here how I’ve skipped the first DHHK and tucked the end into the next DHHK.
Thanks for watching!
