Excellent job! I'm going to do one for my KLR. I'm an older guy (63) and the dinky windscreen that came on my 2014 is useless, or that's my opinion. I ride a lot more on road than off. Your design is the best on KZitem and your explanations very clear. Thanks for the upload and greetings from Alaska. Instant LIKE!

Great video. I just cut mine for the batwing on my Yamaha Stratoliner. Edges ended up quite rough. I'm going to glue some trim moulding on it to give it more of a finished look.

don't go for acrylic full stop,when in an accident that stuff scatters to pieces You won't believe it I had 2 mates killed by them just because they wanted to safe a few bucks, both just hit the broken windshield just under there full face helmets when they were in an accident on there 80's Goldwing Stick to Lexan much more safer it wont break in to pieces Cheers Jack

Your're right jack.. The best material is poly carbonate sheets

Just to add a curious fact to this - it seems most aftermarket motorcycle windshield manufacturers use acrylic. I was curious so looked up a few - National Cycle, Madstaad, Puig, Memphis Shades and Givi. They all use acrylic. National Cycle had a two-piece model that used Polycarbonate for the upper half and acrylic on the lower. I didn't check any OEM makes. If you want a Lexan windshield, apparently you have to make it yourself.

I used lexan on my 55 chev racecar, windshield and all the windows, to save weight. thick too

Do you (recommend heating) heat the lexan/acrylic before you bend it?
@MTMiser
Жыл бұрын
No. You can do this without heating. I'm not sure what would happen if you heated it up, but it isn't necessary. Bending it cold, you will have to bend it farther than where it will eventually end up. Just keep checking the angle of the bend when it's at rest. If it isn't far enough, repeat until it's where you want it.

did I miss a part where you used heat to help you bend it? hair dryer or something?
@MTMiser

No, you didn't miss it. No heat was used. I bent it cold. I did a lot of research beforehand and saw that that was possible.

Good info was exactly what I was looking for, also I like how he showed how to bend the material. it would be nice if the Video was shorter and more straight to the point. Other than that nice now I wanna do this

Thanks Leo. Sorry it wasn't more straight to the point. I'll try to do better in the future.

Nice video, I'm going to home depot now to see if I can make it too... by the way where did you get those hand guards?
@MTMiser

They are "Tusk" D-Flex handguards and I got them on Amazon. They come with white lettering on the front but I blacked that out. smile.amazon.com/Tusk-D-Flex-Handguards-Black/dp/B00PBF77BE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512964334&sr=8-1&keywords=tusk+d-flex+handguards

How did you cut them?
@MTMiser

Hi Sam - just with a hand-held jig saw with a fine metal-cutting blade in it. It worked great. I'd recommend leaving the film on the lexan while cutting it to avoid scratching it.
