Instead of investing in a large, heavy traditional motorcycle lift, I built a lightweight aluminum work table to get my bikes, and me, up off the ground to a more ergonomic working height. I looked at purchasing a ready-made solution but decided instead to design and build my own from extruded aluminum T-slot framing, sourced almost entirely from my local McMaster-Carr warehouse.
The build went pretty quickly and overall I’m pretty satisfied with the result. If I were to do it again I would build it a little more heavy-duty, but this will do while I restore my 96 Triumph to road worthiness again. As it’s built the MotoTable weighs under 50 lbs. 8-feet long, 2-feet wide, and 18-inches high.
