Elise, you are so thorough in your instructions. I like you explaining that makeup wipes in general are not a substitute for washing your face. Yes, we must also wash our face after removing makeup.

Aw thank you! Absolutely, I think people are more aware now but there was a time when that wasn't made clear and I think a lot of our skin paid the price! 😅💚

Hi Elise, thank you for this recipe 🙏🏿. Is there a substitute for the witch hazel in this formula please? The tannins in witch hazel aren’t good for prolonged use as they are an irritant. Thanks in advance x

Hi hun, botanical hydrosols make for a good substitute. I use rose water in this recipe but you can add others like green tea or hibiscus water that share some of the same properties as witch hazel 😊

Definitely trying this!! I love the idea of getting a small tin for makeup wipes on the go. I spend a pretty penny on makeup wipes so this will be very helpful.

What’s a good alternative to using witch hazel?
@WholeElise

Hi! Rose water and Aloe Vera gel are probably your best options - in this case you can either add more of those ingredients or just leave the witch hazel out altogether. Hope that helps 😊

Three questions. May vegetable glycerin be an ok sub for glycerin? And if I am not able to afford a preservative to put in this recipe would this makeup remover still work? And lastly, without using the makeup remover wipes/pads would washing the makeup off of my face with this recipe be the other option?

I love all your DIYs! I tried this but not sure if I did something wrong because it burned when using on my face, after reading the comments I’m thinking it could have been the witch hazel? I’ve used your other makeup remover and love it!!
