I'm getting ready to install my first custom tank and it's going to be 1,250 gallons. This video helped a lot! I never had an aquarium bigger than 10 gallons and will soon post my new aquarium on these comments. Thanks so much for someone to finally have a real walk through of the filtration system they made. Super awesome advice!

Very beautiful black diamond and albino pearl. Very nice tanks young man. Feeding tip, don't know where you live. Night cawers worms for your bass and catfish on days you skip the raw fish. Bait stores sell them a few dollars a dozen. Wash them off . It's a good treat and nt very expensive. I did like and subscribe.

very informative video! i have 2 questions that 'd like your inputs 1) how effectives are the 2 pumps pumping fish waste to mechanical filtration, would they ever get clogged? 2) where and how do heat the tank?

I appreciate your above sump and was thinking of adding one to my system. There can be a build up of dust, on water surface, where the spraybars don't reach. I was trying to figure out a shallow weir to collect off surface, and then an overflow to keep siphon , similar to an eshopps HOB Overflow box. I recently installed a Magdrive 1800gph pump that is breaking up surface fairly well, however the pump is in tank, and agree with the ugly.. lol

How do you think the fluidized media would compare to high-grade static media like pumice or sintered glass in handling ammonia/nitrite?

When I build one. I'm probably going to go with a sump that's level with the aquarium to avoid flow rate being pulled down by gravity. And I'll make a room to access the top and equipment. I also want to grow lettuce via aquaponics as that should be able to reduce the % of water change slightly and provide food.

crazy eh, I stand on my tank also.. Mine is on a stand that primary support is 18-4x4 pressure treated pylons with a pier like system. Many neat things you did. I have a unique dehumidifying system, along with a cool waterchange system. Would like to hear your thoughts on my designs.. Finally. I built a 210 gallon plywood sump with large, 2 foot square media towers on each side and a 5000 gph return/pond pump

First question for ya. How are the dimensions of your tank smaller than mine but holds more water volume? I calculate my tank size (1100 gallons) by the inner dimensions of the tank and how I high I fill it with water (36"). How are you calculating the total volume?
@StanTheObserver-lo8rx

You can build like nobody's business,you just need to refine the livestock. Like in that tank the Arowana and Clownknife look great. In fact two more Arowana cruising the surface would be great to see. But too many of those Pangis cats..Don't those get to be 3'?..out of scale. A 3' Arowana doesn't have the mass of a 3' cat..let alone a pack. Your not into plants..but a big tank like with plant friendly big fish like the Aro's and Clowns could have a some water lilies and big sword plants ( in pots all)..awesome.

Some of what you said is the reason I'm building a second tank. I want a bigger and longer tank for just catfish and giant Gourami basically. I've been through my planted tank stage a long time ago. Now I'm all about low maintenance. That clown knife even if he doesn't eat plants he a beast he'll knock stuff over and move things. Not to mention lighting a 36" deep tank enough for plants to thrive would cost me a fortune. I'm focused on giving the fish proper tank space and best water quality possible. Anything more and I'd be losing too much of my time

@@OffTheDeepEndAquatics I hear you. Algae would also be a big problem. You might try some plastic plants in the corners. Find some natural looking ornamental pots and "plant" the plastics in river stones...keeps the fish from uprooting them. Plus,out of the main lights..no algae on them. Something to consider. Fish look healthy..fat. I saw an Atlanta aquarium video and it was sorry how thin their big fish are. Pathetic. At least home aquarium fish Get TLC.
