BAKING SODA ABSTRACT ART VS PLASTER ART which one will win. So this week I want to make some easy art for my fireplace. I didn't want to make any crazy art that took really long. I wanted something simple with color and texture. In preparation for this video I made canvas. Since this painting was going to be big. I want to text out some different techniques and colors before diving right in to the big painting. The first technique I tried was mixing paint and baking soda. I ended up trying this out a few different times. The second time I got the consistency just the way I liked it. Then the second technique was mixing joint compound and paint. I really like the technique and it gave the paint a clay texture. The third technique wasn't super different from the second one. I still used joint compound but instead of mixing in the paint, I went right to putting on the canvas. I wanted to give this a try to see if I like the looking of this texture better. I did love the texture but I figured it was the tool I was using and not because the paint wasn't mixed in. If you try out any of these techniques I'd love to see a photo.
