Re safety ... my foster father died from emphysema, caused by a combination of spray painting and smoking. Sure powder coating is safer than spray painting, but your lungs are like wet tissue paper ... and generally you only get one set. So treat them with respect ... because breathing is kind of important.

As a DIYer that is gradually developing into a more commercial or service related manufacturing role and as a result am machining things like composite(fiberglass, carbon fiber), plastic, wood, aluminum, not having a early death from exposure to things like fiberglass dust is a focus.

Quick tip regarding the short milling scene: you should have milled the other way around (counter clockwise) it's a concept often taught in the context of manual mills because the cutting pressure presses against the direction of motion, so the mill can't use the slack in the axis spindle to 'jump around'... Well if you have ball screws this theoretically shouldn't be a problem, however I found that in non industrial/budget mills it's best to stick to that practice because they tend to have some give... Try it, it might work better.. seeing the build up on the edge of the part I highly suspect that.. if your parts are getting undersize then (measure the edge, it might get crooked) you can try to use a bigger endmill or your machine has too much flex..

This is a really good video on how to do it at home. Just wanted to mention that if you preheat your parts, you most likely won't be able to cleanly blow off the powdercoating since some of it will instantly flow out when touching hot metal. I have heard of this technique being called "hot flocking". It's to powdercoat things like glass since it's not easy to make the glass have an electrostatic charge.

If you are bending aluminum, it's best to buy the right alloy as some are better for bending than machining ( even though you have to do both ). I had to make a motorcycle rack which needed bending. The metal supplier said to use 5052 H32 and it bent quite nicely. Also, be careful of too tight of a bend radius as you may end up with stress cracks. Very well done video Nik.

100% ^^^ When I was doing my electronics technician apprenticeship, which included some mechanical shop work, I had to remake an enclosure because someone had mixed up the types of sheet aluminum, and gave me a piece that was the wrong alloy. It cracked visibly when bending it on the brake.

Dobra robota!

Thank you very much for sharing. Nicely done. You earned a subscriber. I am only mentioning this since you mentioned pronunciation; your English is really quite good. In fact, I'd say it's exceptional. It seems like you care about your pronunciation, so I'm only pointing this out constructively. "Booth" was very understandable immediately. Your "th" was slightly "f" like in sound. Say "Boo" "think" then combine dropping the "ink" - "booth". The only word that took me a second to realize what you said was "bearing". Your pronunciation sounded too similar to "bring". Remember, "bare" like naked and "bear" the animal are said the same. Say the animal "bear" then add your "ing". That was me at my most discerning, so well done!

Unless you are a mouth breather (which you shouldn't be), your nose will filter most particulate that you might encounter when woodworking (your nose can filter down to 11 micron!). "We have found that the adenocarcinoma occurs only among those men who are working, or have at some time worked, in conditions exposing them to fine hard-wood dust. Workers in the sawmill jobs who are exposed to coarse dusts are not affected, nor are those who have worked exclusively in the upholstering and varnishing departments..."

It's amazing to me that you don't have box fans.. I figured they would be everywhere. Cheap, big, moves tons of air and fits in a window. Could probably have just used PC fans instead of making your own? but they wouldn't have been as big.

Powder coating is indeed dangerous. You're talking about very fine "micro-plastics". These can accumulate in the body, and cause endocrine system issues, infertility, and in extreme situations even death. While many studies have been published that show various examples of damage caused by micro-plastics have been reported, such as micro-plastic accumulation in the bodies of marine and aquatic organisms (leading to malnutrition), inflammation, reduced fertility, and mortality (death). The threats that micro-plastics present to the human body have not yet been clearly identified.

How good protection can powder coating give for outdoor use, or outdoor near the ocean (salt can be a problem)? Can you cover with some type of of rust protection before powder coating? I saw a video where someone baked bare metal parts heating the metal first in flame torch and then added oils. It made a protective film. Could powder coating stick to such a part?

Can you just wire all 3 fans in parallel and use with single ESC? That's basicaly same as using multiple 3 phase motors connected to single 3 phase supply, which is quite common right?
@ph08nyx

An ingenious design! As simple as possible, except for fans with ESC. Fans could be installed ready-made with an asynchronous motor. It would be even cheaper (considering the cost of the power supply and ESC's). I really liked the painting camera! In particular, the lighting is well done - it evenly illuminates and does not shine in the eyes - and all this is achieved by using simple corner profiles! Although, again, there are LED bulbs available that are powered from an outlet rather than a power supply.
