Thank you for sharing this tutorial, Mr. Ayers. My roommate and I are a couple of amateur photographers with ambitious dreams to present "professional" photos for our webpage. Good luck to all our ambitious entrepreneurs.

I was a bit paranoid then that you’d made a video about me, Easy, Cheap and Good Looking. Great video with really good explanation, even the common everyday reflector got a great explanation. I often use tracing paper as a diffuser on an old background stand hanging one part of the cross bar a good few inches from the light, as it’s easier and cheaper to get the big rolls. I even double it up at times to give gradation around a cylindrical object. I certainly wouldn’t buy that diffusion material but don’t leave modelling lights on in contact with it or any other lighting that gets hot, but the same applies for gels.

Thank you for confirming my what I have been thinking all along i.e. "what is wrong with ordinary lights?" Usually works for me. But will definetly try that shoebox idea. Thanks!
