Hi Terry, I hope you are well? Thanks for the link to our Dutch friend , I have just watched it. After recently modifying my old school filter and incorporating a moving bed into it I was wondering how much benefit I was getting in the pond from the air I was using in the filter to run it, would any air reach back into the pond through the water circulation. What an eye opener that video was. So I have learned a bit more from that today. Just worry and work on air you are putting directly into the pond, air used elsewhere is exactly just that to operate whatever it is you are using it for. Temp comparison to air volume also very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Fish looking great 👍, take care
@Wrighty
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I do put a lot of air into my moving bed, having 2 x 8" air stones in it, so I hope a little gets through. The problem with it is, it's at least 15ft from the pond, so like I said in the video air is a gas and comes pretty much straight out of the water, so I wouldn't think there'll be much in it by the time it gets back to the pond. I've always thought I've had plenty of air going into my pond with the 5 x 5" air stones in there, but now it's made me think. Thanks mate, and take care, Terry.

Can't agree more with your message about the koi's deformity. Fish, like most animals, can survive with skeletal deformities as long as they can swim well enough to get enough food, and as long as the deformity isn't severe enough to prevent internal organs working properly. Great video as usual 👍👌

Hi Terry just a thought on you slimmer,I was involved about 30 years ago building this type of skimmer for marine systems, they were called an ETS skimmer. We used a small air line size tap to allow air in which you could adjust but the critical thing that we found was you needed a nozzle on the inlet similar to a watering can rose and pumped water with a bit of pressure behind it. Hope you get it working ,happy ponding mate

Hi Katrina, and thank you for your kind comments. Sorting pond fittings can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes. The lilly I have in my pond is called "Nymphaea Marliacea Albida. Hi Terry, Another good video as always! Forgive me if you’ve answered this question before, Do you have problems with your air stones slowing down due to a build up of algae on them, if so, do you replace or clean them? If you clean them, what is the best method for doing this? Cheers Steve
@Wrighty

Hi Steve, that's right mate, they can get blocked with algae. I just took mine out last year and blasted them off with the pressure washer or use a brush and hosepipe. They've been in there about 3 or 4 years now, so I will replace them at the start of next season.
