I’ve seen a few others do it but I think it’s not super common. I would definitely recommend doing it instead of buying one, it’s a lot cheaper! However like I mentioned in the video I would go over 10 gallon unless your not filling it up all the way. To much water can cause it to bow or break. But I would definitely recommend trying it!

this is a really cool paludarium, but next time (just to make it cheaper) you should try siliconing acrylic/glass canvas covers or something and make a tank out of it :D

Well... that turned out great. To be honest i was abit nervous once you started drilling all those holes lol, couldnt workout what you were planning here... But that turned out fantastic. Pleasantly surprised, kept up the good work. I can't wait to see an update on your indoor rain system, maybe even an upgrade/2.0 version in the future :)

@hodesigns
Жыл бұрын
I actually tried few times but couldn’t come up with anything. I was kind of on a budget with this build so some things aren’t ideal. I have an adjustable pump but that made no difference, it has less to do with water pressure and more to do with how big the holes are.
@jessejames5081

So far every single DIY raining terrarium video I have watched everyone neglects to mention what size holes do you drill?? It's kind of a huge important deal, I would think that if the holes are too big the water just becomes a waterfall instead of raindrops. If it's too small it won't fall through it all. What size holes did you use?
@hodesigns

It’s kind of a trial and error type deal. It depends on how much rainfall you want. I starting with a small drillbit and worked my way up as needed. Your right about them being to big cause it to turn into a waterfall, but again it depends on how much rain you want. Smaller ones are more of a drip and bigger ones more of a stream.

@hodesigns
Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yeah I tried thinking of ways to prevent it but I don’t think I can. Honestly I’m having more of a problem with mold in the canopy. I was kind of on a budget when making this so I couldn’t seal it like I would’ve liked to.

My pleasure. I just built my first terrarium for 2 red apple crabs i rescued out of an aquarium at a pet shop. I still need to add some canopy and climbing features, and also some running plants. Also getting ready to screen in the swinging door to help keep in all the critters i need to add (springtails and isopods). Hopefully they will be happy with it. I also coincidentally completed my first ever planted aquarium (6 gallon cube micro tank) a few days before Christmas. So far, it seems to be doing well. Yeah man, i don't really have a clue how to stop that from happening. Really not concept and first attempt!!!

Wasting time and labor trying to remove the frame on the tank when there are frameless tanks for sale. Wasted even more money by breaking the first tank. Work smarter not harder. Frameless tanks are usually sealed better anyway because they don't have the frame to rely on.
@hodesigns
4 ай бұрын
Considering I got each tank 50% off and frameless tank are insanely overpriced, I think I made the right choice. Plus seal didn’t matter for this project. Is it that hard to just let someone do THEIR project the way they want to? If I’m wasting time and money (which I’m not) that’s my problem.
