thank you for this DYI I have some mobility issues and have a black tank and struggled to empty it manually. It was long and messy. This looks like an affordable solution.

Great video and thank you for taking the time to make it. I'm wondering if this would pump uphill at all like from the wastewater clean out on a RV up into a tote that is in the bed of a pickup truck?

I haven’t measured how high it will go, but if the truck was close to the dump valve I think it would go that high with out any trouble. It does push with decent force.

If you wanted to follow up with fresh water to flush the hose after dumping the gray water you could introduce fresh water into the dishwasher inlet, maybe with a check valve.
@SkyManagement

That’s an interesting idea. You might be able to get a little more force behind it to go up hill that way too.

Thanks for the clear inlet /outlet idea as for reducing 1. 1/2 to smaller garden hose I was thinking of maintaining 1 1/2 " blue flexible, collapsible discharge hose, and yes try to pinch, /hold up /walk waste out to end of line , because of less resistance, faster flow rate, just wondering how well did 3" 3/8 garbage disposal size adapt to the 3"5/16 clear plastic waist tank adapter fitting? No grinding down size?
@SkyManagement
3 жыл бұрын
The waste tote adapter fit directly onto the garbage disposal without any modification. Just needs the bolts put in so it can lock on. I haven’t tried it with a larger hose. The garden hose does take a little time to empty the tank. The thought behind the small hose was to be able to go flat to slightly up hill. As long as you are going down hill a larger hose would probably be ok. Maybe even better.

This might be a solution. I have a parked RV and I need a permanent mount installation to macerate and pump 67 feet at about a 5 foot higher elevation that I prefer be on 110. Do you think this would work? Might I need to add an additional pump? I've considered the flojets but a 12 volt seems too weak. Ideally, I would like it to switch on and do the deed automatically.
@SkyManagement
3 жыл бұрын
I think this would pump that distance. But I think it would do a better job all at once. If you try to make it automatic the long hose might get bogged up. If it only does a little at a time the sediment may accumulate in the hose. When we use this we dump the waste tank and then flush the system with a little bit of clean behind it to clean it out.

I don’t see why not. I can not attest to this as I have not tried to shoot it 3 feet in the air! If I was guessing I would say that short of distance you should have no troubles. So far I have only used my do pump several hundred feet but it is downhill ... grinding and pumping as it goes.... flows well and no clogs as of yet .

So, I picked up a 1/2 hp disposal new from Lowes. It worked like a charm for the first run (gray water). Then I ran the black water through and it started clacking and making noise. I shut it off and let it rest an hour. When I turned it back on, it still clacking and then bound up and hummed. I immediately shut it off and I could never get it to work again. I figured with the clacking noise, maybe I had a bad disposal so I go another. Exact same experience. Any ideas?
@SkyManagement
3 жыл бұрын
Well... not really... sorry to say. Only issue we have had is if I have forgotten and left it on it will eventually overheat and throw a thermal breaker in the unit so I have had to let it rest before but the "clacking" you are referring to I don't have any ideas.. There may be something that was dropped down the black tank that is getting bound up in the unit itself. Hard to say without being there. I know with a typical garbage disposal if it gets something stuck (Glass, metal, coins, bones... etc.) it will bind up and hum. You will need to dislodge the obstruction and turn the bottom with a self service wrenchette or garbage disposal key (large Allen wrench) to free it and then push the reset on the bottom. Sorry we can't be of more help.

So the garbage disposal also acts as a pump? I didn't think they actually did any pumping...
@SkyManagement
3 жыл бұрын
The blades spinning chop everything and force it out the small hole in the side. It’s not a pump per se... but it will force water out of the hole. If you fill up your sink on the garbage disposal side... and then pull the plug... let it drain for a second and you will see it only drains at a certain slow rate... now kick on the garbage disposal and watch the water move.

A garbage disposal is not a pump
@SkyManagement
3 жыл бұрын
You are entitled to your opinion. It’s not meant for grinding up human waste either. However I can tell you that as an experiment if you go home and fill your garbage disposal side of the sink with water and unplug it so that it drains naturally… then repeat the process and turn the disposal on…. You will find the water leaves the sink like a bat out of hell. It moves liquid faster… thus…The definition according to Webster’s.: a device that raises, transfers, delivers, or compresses fluids or that attenuates gases especially by suction or pressure or both

You can find an actual macerator one for about 200 bucks. If you have access to the parts this was done for about 25 bucks. Easier to use... you are likely correct there sir.
