I hunted out a similar setup last year. My difference is that I added the sit drag with a bridge to it and cut the elastic straps from the waist belt and the leg loops on the rock harness. This way I could slide the rock harness belt up to my mid back, I would sit on the harness and slid the leg loops up or down depending if I was sitting or leaning. It was extremely comfortable. I just ordered an actual saddle, hoping I can get the same or better comfort with less bulk. Also, with saddle hunting you have waaaay more shot angle than a tree stand hunter. Keep practicing and get comfortable in your saddle, I will swing out to other trees to snap branches when preparing a tree. Once you trust your system, you have 360° shot angles.

WE have basiclly the same set up. I took my ladder and cut it down. It makes great climbing steps. Use the bottom stand off, drill a hole and remount it. Cut the ladder section off just above and below the second and third foot pegs. Add a rope boat cleat and some 10 mm rope. I also got 1 x 1 rubber plugs for the ends. You can also put some stealth stipes on it like I did.

That’s pretty cool! Thanks for the advice! Have you tried other methods as well and that one is your favorite?

@@bowhunters2022 Just use the center ring on your harness this is also way better than having the V in front of you.

Cool! The main method we ended up going with this past season, was the DRT method. Have you tried that one?

Hi. Do your legs go numb after a while with that saddle setup?

Couldn’t I just use my harness the same way

How much do you spend hunting a year? How much was your bow, muzzleloader, rifle or weapon of choice? So why cut corners on safety, the one most important thing that will almost guarantee you the ability to get to repeat your passion? Definitely wouldn't trust Amazon equipment with my life. Do your research and buy the best equipment.

Safety wise, that rock harness is probably better than most hunting saddles on the market. Most. Is it the greatest probably not. Is it capable of being used 20-40 times a year, of course. He has rated and tested carabiners and rope. I see absolutely nothing wrong with this setup. If spending extra money makes you feel extra safe, by all means buy that peace of mind sir.

The rock harness is by far safer than most if not all saddles and it will last far more than a couple sits. I know this because I used the same harness all last season. I did many all day sits. The rope however... quality climbing rope is $1-3 per foot, he paid $20 for 30'. I looked at buying the same rope till I read all the reviews and decided the one thing holding me to the tree shouldn't be the cheapest thing on amazon.
