Hello Ryan, I just wanted to tell you that your teaching style is wonderful. You leave nothing to the imagination and I am able (as a newbie) to follow each step easily. Thank you so much for being so generous with your time. I added too much water to my activator first time around and got a very runny emulsion, so I will need to purchase some more. But I am having so much fun. I just keep watching all your videos and am feeling confident that I will get it eventually. Many thanks, Ellen. (From Australia)

great video, with the "light safe room" if it's similar to photography darkroom, then a "tent" like the one plate camera , ultra large format photographers use would be more in line with the "beginner" philosophy, just get in the tent, which has a table and all supplies inside. if you are not sure look under topic ansel Adams, or plate camera darkroom tent.

It really depends what you're preference is! Waterbase is easier for clean up and is a smoother creamier ink to work with but some people prefer plastisol since it's so easy to work with. I use a heat gun to cure ink (printed with 230 mesh). Steam still comes out after a minute. Should I keep going until all the steam stops? Should I use a higher heat setting? (1000 degrees is the highest the gun can go) Thanks for any advice.
@Ryonet
8 жыл бұрын
+Marvin Cake Thanks for asking Marvin! Steam is definitely normal and should not be a concern. Smoke is a concern and if it starts to smell like its burning you want to move the heat away. If you're curing water based ink, the main goal is for the ink to get up to about 320 degrees for 30-90 seconds, depending on how thick the print is. The key is to let all of the water evaporate out. Are you using a temp gun to make sure the ink is getting to the proper temp?

Hey there! To get any leftover ink out of the screen, you would want to use an ink degrader. For plastisol, you would want our Sgreen Ink Degrader. For water base, you would want our Sgreen Aqua Wash. To get the emulsion off the screen, you would need something like our Sgreen Emulsion Stripper! Ink degrader first, to get all of the ink out of the screen, and then you can proceed with the emulsion stripper. If you are still having issues getting your screen reclaimed, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at success@ryonet.com, or 360-450-6845!

Thanks so much Ryan for sharing this wonderful video! I always wanted to see how it was done and it is neat. What is the name of the transparent/film paper for making the opaque film negatives and better yet - where do I get it? Can you make negatives with a Laser Printer too using the same film? Thanks again!

I'm trying to screen print at home but I need to make sure I stay eco-friendly. Just wondering, is there a specific way to dispose of the water and debris after cleaning/reclaiming the screen?

+Lansky Reyes Your best bet would be an Epson printer with Blackmax ink, we sell this in a package on our website: www.screenprinting.com/epson-1430-blackmax-ultimate-film-output-system If you're looking for a more inexpensive option, you can print your films with an ink jet printer and black ink. In this case, you may want to print two copies of each film and stack them for opacity.
