A real nice tool. Simple and efficient. And it's allowed to sharpen with a wet stone (very important for me!). Congratulation)))

What about stainless knives

Your jig keeps rotating on the knife, even the stronger magnet doesn't help - it's because the contact area is too small to create enough friction. A classic clamp with 2 screws used by similar Lansky/DMT jigs is very easy to make it yourself - you need a thread tap, a drill, 2 metal plates and 2 screws

Let me critize. Your gig his similar but simpler than other youtuber. But it suffers from he same default that any gig using a single pivot point: the distance between the contact point on the blade and the one at the perpendicular of the arm changes sligthly so does the 18 degrees angle, not to mention the curvature of the blade. I am quite sure it does not matter but geometry make it not as much precise han advertise.

Let me criticize your statement.The offset is so minuscule it would not be visible and not even measurable unless in a laboratory setting.

Your jig may be unique but you need to learn how to use a file! NEVER,NEVER file back and forth on metal, wood, plastic etc. it fills the file teeth up with debris causing the file to dull prematurely! You should only push the file in the direction the teeth are facing.
@MacheteMonster

False! You may want to check out that information before trying to school people. Files work in one direction but going back and forth has no effect on the tool.

@@MacheteMonster Nope not FALSE I worked in a machine shop for 30 years and the training I received as a machinist told me a file can be used only one way and not back and forth! But you go ahead and do your thing incorrectly but then again you must have a lot of money to buy new files to replace the ones you screw up....... Have a nice day!! 😀😀

@@alanosborne1947how can moving a file backwards pack it with debris when it's the cutting face that causes the debris?
@GerstBladeworks

@@alanosborne1947it is false actually . Just because you worked in a machine shop for a long time and some old head told you something doesn't necessarily make it true. Moving a file back and forth will not damage the file, I am a metallurgist by trade and I work with metals on a daily basis, none of my files have dulled prematurely, this is something that old guys used to tell the new recruits just because "that's the way they did it" stop spreading misinformation. Also some files are made to cut both ways, how do you know that's not the one he is using?
