I was looking your tanks as good as I could,You don’t have sand Is sand good or bad for tank?
@TOMReefer
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Granny, I’ve had both, sand and no sand. Sand is ok if you keep it clean. Over time they can become phosphate sinks. Vacuum them every few water changes. That helps in my experience. 👍🏻😊

Hey Luke, I’ve had an experience where they got into a maxima clam and killed it. As far as other corals I don’t think I’ve had any problems with them.

Ok thanks Tom 🤙, I have a few popping up in my tanks and I wasn’t sure of how worried I should be, I’ve been removing them as I see them as a precaution.

Im trying to get my alk up. My refractometer was reading inaccurate so I had to get a new one and adjust but my alk is still low at 6.3. Waterchanges are not helping. This defected refractometer was causing me to mix a smaller amount of salt causing this issue. Melevsreef told me to do one dose of 1/3 teaspoon of sodas ash to bump it up a little bit and then jus do normal water changes. I might try that 🤔what do you think ?
@TOMReefer
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Botzz, Melevs is quite experienced, try that. There are other places products on the market that will help with this also, but all do the same thing. 👍🏻It’s not difficult to fix, but can be a bit frustrating. Good luck

i dont understand why two part dosing just use..how about magnesium??did you use it?
@TOMReefer
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Amir, two part dosing adds alkalinity and calcium in equal ratios. It makes your reef more stable. You can also add magnesium as well, but it does not achieve the same effect as 2 part dosing. 😊👍🏻

what should i be testing if i wanna start dosing my tank thanks great shows
@TOMReefer
3 жыл бұрын
Hey George, if you want to start 2 part dosing, you will want to test your Calcium and alkalinity. Quite often in the beginning until your levels stay the same. I have a vid on this somewhere out there. 😃

Hello good morning, if you use Tropic Marin two parts dosage you will not need to do water changes because the salinity does not rise. If you use the triton balling it will not rise either but this is 4 parts so you need two more dispensers. Greetings

Hey mate, what sort of coral stocking do you have in your tank? Do you just use straight kalk or add vinegar also? Only reason I wanna do calcium reactor is because I have co2 setups from freshwater tanks not being used plus an algae reactor thats not being used anymore. I like to tinker with equipment.

@@richardportelli1983 I'd drip kalkwasser 24/7 very slowly in my sump and it keeps everything pretty stable at 8.5 DKH
