The transformation is lovely. How you share your thought process, the setbacks and successes is the magic here. Your authenticity. If I could make one suggestion-it’s for you to slow down, give yourself grace. This room is more than a three part transformation. Walk us through your choices for the stair wall treatment in one episode. The fireplace treatment, your decisions, techniques and why in another. The front door and window treatment in another. You have a rapped audience. We aren’t looking for speed-we’re looking to be included, which you do so generously. Give yourself grace. We aren’t going anywhere.

@@XOMaCenna I hope I’m not too late for you to see this, but there are flexible molding products. You might check them out in case you want to add more, or use in future projects! It might give you ideas that aren’t limited by rigid materials! Or maybe use in your stair designs... you never know! Another thought I had about midway, before you started on the design you did, but I was thinking layering precut arch “moldings” out of the 1/8” sheet and possibly routing the edges, or somehow mimicking a curved casing at the top, with layered and routed pieces...

I’m in the process of getting used to a sliding compound miter while learning to cut and install crown molding and baseboards and door trim. Just finished ripping out the drop down wall of a closet in a short hallway that leads to the primary bath (tiled it all as one space 2 years ago). And so on. I am also arching what was a doorway that is now an open passage. I’m doing it with drywall parts and scrap 2x4 pieces for substructure. I want to add extra trim around door frames, but don’t have a lot of room. You just did what I’m thinking about. Thank you for the well-timed presentation! Never thought about soaking the thin plywood or getting plastic molding and heating it. 👍

You can make short cuts in the side that you’re bending to. This makes space to bend and it lesson the pressure on the top. Just slight cuts, kinda like if you’re sewing and do curves, you have to take out some of the material so it lays right.

Macenna, the inspiration pictures with curved trim probably is plastered onto the wall, they have moulds and fill them with plaster and do it directly on the wall. Not sure if that makes sense but my parents don’t live in the US and that’s how all the crown moulding and trim was done!

I'm so impressed! The Arch looks so much more organic in the space instead of the chamfer. If you're looking for verbiage that's closer then the "collar" looks like the capital of the pillasters (fake columns going up walls) the paneling is trying to create in your inspo pictures. Also I know it's late and you already figured out the pvc, but if you use a steamer you can bendd the wood trim similarly.

This is absolutely stunning!! I love how these arches turned out. Fantastic job!! I want to mention being careful of the color cast of the walls since you are bouncing your lights off them. I am also drawn to colors with a green cast, but I know from experience that when you bounce light off a wall painted with any color cast, you will see that in the light and, therefore, on your subject. Also, you will get less light bouncing off a wall as you go deeper in color. You can solve all of that by bouncing the light off a white scrim or piece of fabric like a sheet, but I wanted to mention it. I truly can’t wait to see this room come together!!
