All you people commenting with negative comments should be ashamed of yourselves! This person had an idea and executed it. Regardless if you think its not a "real" transmission line enclosure, this is a very creative idea! Don't be assholes!
@ScottGrammer

It's not a transmission line. It's a very, very long vent, tuned to such a low frequency that it likely has little to no audible effect at all. A transmission line does not begin in a larger cabinet, and its cross section is similar to the radiating area of the woofer. Its length is approximately 1/4 wavelength of the free-air resonant frequency of the woofer.

Looks interesting, but as far I know how speaker works and how their boxes are to be made, this one must sound like a total crap, and there's no chance it doesn't, while I already hear this on this video how it resonates, making this awful "blup, blup" when bass kicks. It was really a waste of time and you would've known that before starting, if you only did a minimal research about designing speakers topic. Instead, you are like I was some years ago - when it came to another brand new ingeniois idea, I was just about to start work immediately, because I'm smart and I had that idea, so I know already everything I need for that, and the rest I can improvise or find some details info later. Also the society was not helping, telling stuff like "just do it, the best time to do something new is now" etc. It sounds like a good motivational rule, but it's actually a huge lie. The best time to do something new is when you check at least some basic info about that. It will greatly shrink the risk of wasting time reinventing the wheel (ok, you maybe gathered some experience, only yours wheel is square and it does turn in only one direction, but it fit in your project. Which usually won't work for not even the most stupid mistake like that - it will fail for even more stupid reason, but if one has the "I know already everything and don't need help and don't read any manuals" - is always sentenced to a spectacular fail. If not this time, then another.

You're absolutely right, I've tried it, even a speaker box like this actually makes the sound deeper and won't come out, and the bass sound that was previously strong becomes muffled and makes the box vibrate, and this is a big lie and a waste of money ,

NOT A TRANSMISSION LINE AT ALL! NOT WHAT SO EVER!!! That is an incorrectly tuned ported enclosure. A long port is not a transmission line. Not al all!
@eduardohenriquelima
2 жыл бұрын
It has never been and never will be a transmission line box. This is a normal ventilated box. The absurd size of the length of this duct must have left the box tuning to such a low frequency that the speaker cannot reproduce it. And I noticed that the walls of this box are vibrating.
@Bassotronics

“Speaker cannot reproduce it” is incorrect. I have this same design in my car with just one subwoofer and I shake my windows at 17Hz.

It's cool but it's not a Transmission Line Enclosure. It looks like an enclosure with a long port. With a lot of port noise probably because it is not tuned properly. The port diameter is probably way to small for the amount of air moving through it. The main reason for the port noise. Most subwoofers around 6 inches (150mm) or greater. Usually use or need a 2 inch (50mm) port diameter or greater to properly handle the air movement.
@uncledope77
2 жыл бұрын
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 To me tuning is a lesser issue as it pertains to the this enclosure because it's not a T-Line. More to the point it is the style or type of enclosure. That my eyes are seeing that it is not a T-Line. It is a bass reflex or ported enclosure. That needs a larger port diameter/circumference tuned properly. For efficiency and sound quality also the port noise will most likely go away. If I missed something please let me know?

What a fun video and good design. I'm thinking of building a speaker for a Burning Man art car. It would be a PVC tube about 20 feet long and straight. @@jocancandol2346 That noise might be pipe rattle but I don't think it is. I think it's port noise from all the air moving through the pipes. Twisting & turning not properly tuned creating distortion. First of all this is not a "Transmission Line Enclosure" it is a ported enclosure. With a long port that I suspect is turned really low. But not tuned right for that subwoofer & the port diameter & length isn't correct. That's why it sounds that way at lower frequencies. Almost anyone can make an enclosure, many struggle to tune them correctly! For help in this area please visit the12volt.com it offers tons of help in a lot of categories.

This is how we combine acrylic plates. Use syringe to inject the chloroform towards the gap between 2 plates. Chloroform is quite watery. It would penetrate the gap and melt the surface of acrylic slightly. So the acrylics can be glued tightly.

as long as the box is sealed the only problem will be square box wave resonance. The placement of the passive radiator does not necessirily matter as the air that will be displaced will be in the same box making the passive radiator still work the same if there is no air leak. If you want to be very specific the radiator should be next to the drivers but ultimately it wont make that much of a difference
