I do this in empty glass mayo jars. Cheese cloth and rubber bands work fine, if you don't want to get a kit. We also used to use the dried beans you buy at the local store (sprouting elevates the nutrient content), but now there are more organic versions available. It's a great project, if you like home projects or need something to do with the kids.

Adding one tsp of citric acid per quart jar when soaking AND rinsing inhibits the formation of molds. Also helps to keep them in a non-humid location like a cupboard, away from sinks, dishwashers, etc. And I let mine green up in a window the last 24 hours. Hope that helps!

@@rubenmartinez3705when you grow micro greens, you crowd too many seeds into your space for long term growing. You could grow any micro greens out, but then you lose the advantage of quick turnover. Also, sprouts/micro greens have a much higher nutrient density than a grown plant. And they usually taste better too

How cool! Oh and I used your app for the first time today at Sprouts to do my families grocery shopping. I did get a little flustered haha just because I find myself to been pretty knowledgeable about ingredients and what’s healthy. And to my disappointment how stuff I had been buying isn’t as healthy as I thought. And my bill was a bit more when I checked out. As I do have two growing kiddos 12&9 years old. And they eat like crazy!! Haha that’s the only hard part. As I am a single parent doing my best to feed my kids the best food. But thank you so much for the knowledge you put out and the App for helping me out at my health food stores! 🩵🙌🏻🙏🏻 and your daughter is so cute as well. Take care!! ❤😊

An egg needs its own nutrients (from the white and yolk) to grow the embryo inside until it hatches. But once it hatches, the growing animal needs to eat more to become fully developed. Similarly, a seed needs nutrients from within itself to sprout and start growing. Water and air help it sprout, and it feeds on its own nutrients. After sprouting, it needs to be planted in good soil to keep growing into a complete plant.
