What about building a DRSSTC? I can only recommend building one because the results are spectacular. It might seem complicated to build one, but it is easier than you might think. I have just finished building my DRSSTC and the longest spark i have captured so far is over 3m long! It can also play music using MIDI-Files.

Hey Jason, I recently found your channel, and fell in love. Your background story reminds me of my own, except I built Van De Graaff generators in lieu of Tesla Coils. (I found it much easier to scrap parts for ESD at a very young age lol) I was curious if you might be interested in doing a video about these generators. I know it's a bit elementary for you, but just a fun idea! Keep it up, man. I really admire what you're doing.

by the way, 1000W isn't the max, a hundred watts or so is idle. when short circuited it goes up to around 1500W, more or less. therefore, with 4V it would go up to 350-400 amps. heck it could go up to 450-500 if it reaches 2000W, way to tell it's past 1700-1800W is if your 15A breaker trips.

Could you make an induction heater with that MOT? I'm a mechanic, and there is a really expensive handheld induction heater with the open end of the coil pointed out the business end available for heating stuck nuts on rusted vehicles to aid in their removal. Would be cool if I could build one. I know a bit, but it's probably just enough to get me in trouble.

Dude thank you so much for this video. It’s totally changed my understanding of electricity and helped me solve an issue with one of my inventions. One question though. In this video you said it will heat up anything more resistive then the copper wire? So can I use a copper wires coil to make a strong electromagnet connected to the transformers output? So it would be high amps low voltage. Which I believed produces a strong electromagnet?

I did the same thing with a much thicker wire. More current and still lower voltage. It works great but I would like more voltage. At some point I will have to get a slightly thinner wire.

Yeah I originally did 2 gauge and only two turns. It put out 2.2 volts and almost 500 amps. Crazy. But when voltage is that low, an load drops the voltage like crazy, and, you dont get a full melting effect.

It may be residue in the electrodes burning in the plasma. As, the plasma should only be purple colored. Thanks for the compliments!

Can you combine high current with high voltage? I want a high current plasma arc. I was wondering if a Marx generator could produce a spark across a gap and that gap is the two leads from your transformer. I know capacitors allow AC to pass and block DC. So maybe, if the two leads from the transformer were connected to AC capacitors and the arc would be past the capacitors, then the DC Marx Generator would be on the other side of the capacitors combining high voltage with high current.

I'm not sure but if the Joule effect is proportional to the amperage squared, I assume that it would be better to have juste one turn to the secondary winding. In that way, your transformer will be able to produce 1V and 1000A . Thereby, you will get more power to melt metals. What do you think about ?

Ohm's law plays a role here.Reducing the voltage we will not be able to overcome the resistance of the material and as a result to pass a large current through it

Yeah a small knife definitely! The Bowie.... hard to tell. Give it a try but I’d place some waste metal in contact with the knife first, then touch the wires to the waste metal. Because the wires will vaporize metal on contact. It will protect your knife.

I did. a standard plug in was wired into the transformer. The MOT's in USA are designed to input 120v from wall. If you're doing so, please be careful

I want to make one of these but i dont like to play with high power ac. Its just kinda scary to me, since ac is able to discjarge in your body with only one lead.(capacitance. It charges your body with the negative half of the wave while discharging it with the positive half.) And its kinda sketchy to me.

People actually hook 2 or more microwave transformers up all the time, you just gotta make sure they are in phase with eachother.. Either make sure your wall is rated for the amps drawn by 2+ microwave transformers or ballast it to where it will only put out a certain amount that's under your wall load amount.

Please remember people don’t not use a microwave transformer as it is and play around with it. It will kill you and this is no joke at all. So if your going to do this and do it as he tells you in this video. Please don’t play around with this transformer before breaking it down with 4 turns of wire. It will kill you if you touch it. Also do not ever touch the big capacitor in a broken microwave that you might use. It will do the same if it still got charge in it. Play safe and stay alive.

Oh, its just a standard plug to go into a wall socket, and the two input wires on the transformer have leads that the wire from wall can be attached to. Be careful if doing so

Likely burn out the secondary from too much current. Then again, that secondary has so much resistance, it would prevent most current from flowing. I can find out for you.

It’s the amps - experienced - by your body that kills you. Which, is dependent on voltage applied. If voltage is really low, virtually no current (amps) flows through you. So you can touch hundreds of amps at super low voltage, and feel nothing. Super low voltage = a couple volts.

250 amps will do nothing, if there is not enough voltage to push that current through a body. Voltage is an essential component to cause danger.

I understand that the output voltage, 4 VAC is too low to strike an arc. But I am wondering, if you strike an arc by using another power source (like the plasma candle you built: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tK-Q25mia5uSdaA), do you think that this transformer could inject its high current inside the electric arc despite its low voltage, and thus make the plasma even hotter and brighter ? I know that plasma torches and TIG welders are using something very similar: they use an HV circuit to start a pilot arc, then another circuit with a lower voltage inject hughe amount of amps to make the plasma hotter. What do you think?

You can definitely touch these wires, Ohm's law is U=R*I. So if you want to know how much current could flow through your body, knowing body's resistance is about 100 000 Ohm, you would have 0.00004 Amps, which is simply not dangerous. Furthermore, you will get this amount of current inside your body only if you touch the two wires with your hands, if you short the wires with a piece of metal, the current across your body will be 0A. There is no danger here :)

Fundamentally, 110 is safer than 220 or 240 volt aways. Yes, it's US standard, 120. My safety warnings could be stronger in these older videos.

Not a great idea using this thick insulated wire, you should be using copper sheet or thick copper bar insulated with some heat resistant material for the winding instead...

I do it with 95mm² Insulated Wire... The Transformator is even to weak to handle the 1,5-2 volts out of the 1 / 1/2 windings. At 600A+ The wire are cold :D And Wires Like this are very expensive... Copper bars even more.

Also, you may want to look into the concept Tesla refers to as his "extra coil" he placed in series to the top terminal of the secondary coil on a Tesla Coil. If you have his Colorado Springs Notes book he covers this topic starting on page 78. I mention this because in the notes he state "It is notable observation that these "extra coils" with one of the terminals free, enable the obtainment of practically ANY voltage potential (emf)" Here is a link to a pdf of the book.
