Yes, rent a stump grinder, but my problem with renting one is how close the nearest rental place is to me. I have to drive 1 hour 30 minutes to the nearest rental place in order to rent. Then 1.5 hours back. Not really feasible for me, but a stump remover would be great.

@@eliancienthealing6682 try drilling holes in the stump and pour buttermilk in them. Promotes the growth of fungi, bugs do the rest. Not fast but faster than waiting for them to rot on their own and it's the easiest way I've found. I actually prefer this method when the stump isn't in the way and there's no rush for it to go. I've also rented grinders when I had several that I had to mow around and didn't care to wait for them to decay. $375 a day is a high price to pay for being impatient, but I didn't have to mow around those anymore, worth it!

Back in the day, my dad would take a wood bit and drill hole in the stump, then he would pour diesel mixed with some waste oil, in the holes and let it soak. A bit later he would dump in some more and light it. It would burn and then smolder for a few days.

@@homeprojectswithnick It shouldn't end up in the ground. He would just drill a couple of deep holes in the stump towards the middle, then put enough in to soak it. It would start to burn and then just smolder until most of it was gone. To me it seemed like a long drawn out process.

@mrwhamisrick Yup. It's not leaking into the ground. You're getting more shit in your well from the rain than that. It works of course, but what about when you are trying to get it below the ground level and you are in all of that dirt and rocks around and under the stump and you hit them with your saw blade? A small chainsaw would do the same thing but a little better, but still the same dilemma with the dirt and rocks. Removing a stump most of us want it gone below the yard level so we can smooth it out and plant grass. We want away from the unsightly stump period.
