Fantastic creative craftsman without use of fancy shmancy equipment and totally down to earth. HMR appears to not be available in my area however and its better than MDF for sure.... Just a friendly tip. You don't square your fence with the blade, you square it to the miter slot. The blade can be out of square with the miter slot which is another issue all together. The miter slots are perfectly square with the table top. I'm not going to put down the build, it came out very nice and you should be happy with it. I would just make a few changes. But over all, it's good.
@davidpeters8813

Actually, with any saw, the proper procedure is to align the blade to the miter slot, then align the fence to the miter slot.

Theres a lot of wiggle between near and far edges. You'd have to measure each, the check square every time - right? Same as OEM fence? Wouldnt it be better to, after first lip, install or route a T/miter track on that, square n/f mitre guides, and it would glide evenly?
@ryan072581

i had to make one myself. the one that came with my saw had no track and before EVERY cut, i had to measure front and back to make sure it wasnt toed in or out (it would be, always).

I made a similar one last year. I put my spirit level along the blade and scribed a fine line across the table in line with the blade to use as a reference datum. To do this you need a new blade that is absolutely true, I checked the blade with a dial gauge first. I also checked that the slot was in line with the blade with the dial gauge at the same time.

Hey there buddy, hope you and the family are good. I have a Dewalt contractor saw- model DW745 and want to install a longer fence on it. I've built the saw into my work surface /assembly table so I have more room for a bigger fence. Do you think a design like yours would work? I'm trying to figure out how to keep the end farthest from the front from flexing. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for what you do!!

you can add 6mm-9mm MDF or another material on original fence but the material must flatten and give nylon or PE sheet after that. You build more longer and bigger fence. for locking system i think DWE 745 lock good than my table saw DWE 7470
