If your washer stops working the lid switch may be the culprit. Testing this out before calling a repair man can save big bucks. Don't be shy, try a DIY!
Thank you so very much for putting this on KZitem. I am a single mom and I went to the store and was able to buy the parts for $35 and it's saved me the Appliance housecall of $125 and I'm sure the part would have been much more. I really owe you thank you so much.

Thanks much. Can't wait to disable that darn switch. I am 67 and even as a child I was never dumb enough to stick my hand in to the washer when it was on the spin cycle!! Hard to believe anyone is that stupid but then they have alerts on strollers now a days to take the baby out of the stroller before folding it up! (NO KIDDING...they really have that printed on stollers!! )

Thank you sir. Exactly what I needed for my ancient Estate (Whirlpool) machine. I knew it was the switch but had no idea where to start. 30 minute fix.

David, thank you for the information. I was actually thinking of cutting the wires to the switch, but you just showed me I don't need to. Now I can bypass the switch until I get a new one. Thanks again.

Thanks a ton! I had a load of laundry stuck in the washer. Knew enough to get the top of the machine off and get at that stupid switch. Bless corporate design and their little fiddly bits of plastic that snap at the first sight of strain. As I was doing the teardown, the little shit popped right out of the enclosure into my hand. I am perfectly ok with manually flipping the new, and vastly improved IMO, "lid lock" now and again... Thanks so much once again!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been trying to figure out how to bypass the lid switch on my daughter's washer but it did not look like any of the others as it lacked the connector you plug/unplug. Watching your video I knew which wires had to be connected to complete the circuit and we now have a running washer. I am sure my daughter will be delighted when she gets home from work to know she can now washer her clothes again in her apt and repair cost nothing but time!
