Fantastic job, and congrats on finishing! I have seen a few other DIY people do a lifting floor, but I really like your version there.

well made and looks good on the ZR, the rear lift window would be better if the support frame was a complete frame 4 sides (stiffeners) connected to the hinges and gas struts then add the covering plate, so it takes the stress off the cover providing the frame does not twist when opening or closing. Great work!

Great job man. I live in Maple Ridge and was planning to do the ripcord build for my taco eventually. Coming across your build was a good learning experience, once restrictions loosen up I'd appreciate meeting up and hearing some more things you've come across or tips on the build. Truck looks great too

at the approx 18:22 mark where the aluminum panel cracked from the struts .... i built a campervan and had a similar problem with one of the wooden doors on a cabinet. The real issue isn't so much caused by the struts but how you open and close the panel. You need to keep even pressure lifting up or down on both sides equally (and yes, the struts are probably overkill in strength which contributes to the problem). If you close or open from just one side like you did in the video, it has a torque effect on the opposite side twisting the panel at a higher resistance point. That stress will cause the panel to eventually crack or in my case the wood to split. The options sans opening or closing both sides equally is to reinforce the panel itself in its weak points, i.e. horizontal 80/20 or similar space every so many inches. Another option is to only use 1 strut and always open/close the panel from that side. Hope this helps you or others in the future.

Did you ever find any other panel options other than standard aluminum sheets to go with that were stronger yet just as light as the composite panels? Also, is there any cross bracing or reinforcement for the front portion of the sleeping floor that is above the cab that only has the composite panel? Thanks

I'm thinking of building one of these also for a ZR2, how much does it sag and affect the ride with the extra weight? I already find the ZR2 to ride firmer than I want, at least the one I test drove did and it was extremely noisy with the Duratracs, your experience?

Great job man. I'm searching for the rubber seal similar to your post. Rubber seal that inserted on top of the extrusion to prevent rainwater flow in. I'm currently using the flat type seems not good. Pls share the link, Pls advise tq

I ordered directly from 8020 but since they don't ship to Canada I had to ship to a place at the border and then had a Canadian company import it for me

I would suggest buying from Fazstore out of Quebec. They are accurate to the 1/1000 of a mil. They offer tons of extrusions, machining, end taps now too. Waaay cheaper than 80/20 out of states, and Canadian 80/20 distributor is weak, with no machining offered.

Great job, got a question: I've been considering this design for a while but am concerned about winter use. I need something 4 season and the space frame and roof seem easy enough to insulate properly with foam but the aluminum extrusion concerns me just one giant temp sync to the outside. Anything you've noticed? Any condensation issues?
