"Everyone was raving about how good Shang-Chi was" .. _..what??_ The most memorable thing about that movie was the "absolute triumph" meme that came out of it, courtesy of the shill reviewers

Man, that’s the first time I’ve heard that he’s going to be in an Avengers movie. Or rather, I haven’t heard anyone talk about Marvel at all since, I dunno, the last Spider-Man film. There’s also the Deadpool and Wolverine film, but I dunno how long that’s been talked about. Can’t remember if it was brought up around the same time or more recently.

China hated Netflix's 3 Body Problem because they totally butchered Ye Wenjie, the most complex character from the book into a 2 dimensional grumpy old lady who hated humanity because of her trauma during Cultural Revolution. Also they only depicted China in one sided negative way, while in the book things were much more objective and complicated. Not to mentioned the books are hard sci-fi, the Netflix series turned it into a soap opera and completely dumbed down the science.

Shang Chi wasn't awful but nothing to write home about Awkwafina was annoying comedic relief.

Good to know to avoid the film adaptation. I was planning on reading it anyway, so I'll just stick with the book.

there are like 2 movies and 2-4 tv adaptions for the book. i personally think the netflix show was pretty well done and i read the book first before i watched the show

Don't worry, the book was slop too. Netflix just stir-fried it.

I liked the opening scene of the Netflix one just for the authentic depiction of the Red Guard's "struggle sessions" during the cultural revolution.

Predicting the movements of 3 planets / stars / whatever in space all affecting each other via gravity, given starting positions & velocities. With only 2 objects, it's (relatively) simple to solve for their trajectories as functions. With 3, you basically have to do a computer simulation.

Well, about the book series, I haven't watched nor read the novels, but I have seen lore videos, and the easiest way to describe it is "frick around and find out, in space", it's really dark and it could be an accurate prediction to the future of mankind if we keep telling everyone out there where Earth is located.

I'm not Asian but I have a lot of Asian friends and I notice there's a pressure to unequivocally elevate any Asian media that comes to the West. But of course that's absurd as Asian culture is not a homogenous blob. So if something turns out to be crap, there's a in-group pressure to not speak ill of it (even if it's obvious to all members that it was honestly not good).
