I am so envious of ps4 players right now for having the chance to play this most excellent game.. Me personally I started dj max way back on the pc by means of dj max online. Then it shutdown.. But! Then the game came to psp. For me buying a psp for dj max was a no Brainer. So I bought a psp just so that I could relive dj max again. And then later on I also bought dj max trilogy but I didn't like it much because the detection was a bit wonky. But now I really want to fully get back into djax again and none of this dj max technica spin off shenanigans. I want to play dj max proper and that's dj max respect. But ps4 is a bit of an investment for me atm.. Also I haven't got a monitor to play it on.. But anyways enough of my rambling. Dj max 4ever!

As of now, Dj Max Respect looks somewhat outdated. All Konami rhythm games are way superior in the gameplay deparment (timing being more strict), visuals and music selection. I myself started playing rhythm games with Dj Max Clazziquai Edition and still kind of enjoy them. But once you move away to something more complex, it's really hard to get back to something casual like Dj Max Respect. I wish the impossible to happen but I really hope neowiz would partner up with Konami to bring the best IIDX songs to Respect.

I think it either has already or is getting a steam version with extra content.

Nice review! I've been playing this series since DjMax Portable 2 on the PSP, and this felt like a gift to the fans, This edition is so stylish, very polished and filled with content, it's a shame not many people know about it. Anybody with a minimum interest in rythm games should check it out.

awesome review, keep playing this game and don't be afread to join the DJ Max Reddit & Discord, let alone using those speed mods, it helps space out those notes so you can get better scores at the cost of faster things falling down.

Small tip: Music Video for any song is unlocked when you Full Combo any difficulty of the song. And yes, please use speed mods, they make notes roll faster, but it can help to play songs better by having to analyze smaller portions of chart on the go. Either way, your review is good, keep on playing~ I've been playing DJMAX since school when I found DJMAX Portable International Version and was playing it a lot, eventually finding out Black Square and Portable 3 (god I wish to forget of the latter, but nevermind), which I also played so much until my PSP broke completely. When I got another PSP, it was already final years of university, but one of first things I got for it was Portable 2 which I couldn't stop playing until I bought PS4 and DJMAX Respect. I own the HK version of the game and it already got 2 large DLCs that add even more songs to the game! Devs say that US version is also going to have them really soon! I wish they solved the problem of Asian and US version not connecting to each other in online mode though, but I guess they are really busy with another upcoming DLC they announced today!

Pro tip for New players: play at faster speeds, no 1.00x. why? Because you'll have a better sense of dealing with note accuracy. Especially songs that are more difficult and you will be overwhelmed with notes. Never give up ! I've been playing for about 10 years and I'm not perfect either lol.

I feel like I'm the only one, I started on DJMax Portable 2 and played 1.5x speed all the way till Black Square, only when Black Square came out I started playing competitively and started progressing to 2.0 and 2.5x for accuracy 😂

By portable do you mean a Portable version of Respect? Or previous games on portable? Because Black Square, Clazziquai, FEVER and Portable 1-3 were PSP games.

But other than that, no, RESPECT is not a Vita-ready game, unless there is a chance Vita control is possible

when I Play a song (in any mode) there is no video in the background, only a still image, any idea how I can make a video appear like the game play showed in this review?

I feel like you could have edited this way better tbh. After the intro you should have just cut to the next segment instead of having just the music video play for an extra 10 seconds and for the "gameplay" section you kind of missed out on a great opportunity to explain how the game works since you just brought up the negative point that the game had no tutorial but leaving just the gameplay (unnecessarily for more then a minute) shows how easy it is to actually pick up the game and play if you just look at the layout. If you did this to extend the length of the video instead you could have brought up some of the tracks you liked to play most Showing off a segment from each song and talking about why you liked it.

sasuke270 13 changing the speed of the song , normal is 1x , but is way harder to read , depending on the bpm u can make the scroll speed faster so the notes are farther apart , find what bpm u read at and then slowly try to build it
