Ok let me start by stating I'm a massive metal head. But when I first heard this around 2003 I loved it and downloaded it, and I recently found it again on an old MP3 player of mine that I thought died in 2007. Having listened to it again, it still goes off. I don't even know what it is I like about it, the composition maybe? If a metal head likes this, surely this song is severely underrated.

if you're into metal and also like GOOD electronic music like this, I suggest you give "dark psychedelic trance" a try. Look up for "olien - darkmatter" so you have an idea about what it is like!

@@2pro4u2c still bangs. You have good taste and if you still never got in to hard energy / trance from when you wrote this post, then what you may have missed from the era is the fact that this song is undoubtably one of the best examples (if not THE best example) of hard trance that was every produced. So no, it was never underrated, everyone knew what it was at the time, and still knows now just how well it holds up today. What starts as the most simplistic revolving bassline progressively builds to an explosion tracks that work harmoniously to provide a euphoric release. The track's composure is far more like an orchestral piece, a thing of beauty and art. Unfortunately, all electronic dance music has suffered from the competition of mainstream releases (much the same way as metal, punk... or pretty much any genre). Sadly, this means that listeners from outside the genre don't really know what to look for (what's up, what's down), and sadly the majority of the "dance music" they get subjected to is the shit coming out of MTV and their local radio stations, rather than underground rave music. And granted: Scot Project wasn't even "that underground", he was and is still relatively mainstream. The more you dig, the better you find the quality and originality of most music. It is a great thing that you got to experience this song and treated it with an open mind... I've found many of my metal head mates in the past to feel the same... they hate dance music normally but if you show them something truely original they can see the beauty in it. If you enjoyed this you should also check out Hennes & Cold's Second Trip. This is my all time favourite from that era, and to date in hard trance kzitem.info/news/bejne/mXuGxaSEjpdqn2k

@Strategios You are (almost) right about that, Hardtrance also involved in the Early Hardstyle gerne and Dj Scot whas one of this artists, its like hardtrance only the snare parts and basslines are a bit different than "normal" hardtrance, also the bpm's!.. In 2002, Frank Zenker and Kai Winter aka Scot Project and Derb made a label called DRUCK records. They made it for one reason, to create a harder side of trance music what later evolved in hardtrance and early hardstyle... Grtz

It's got multiple elemental genres such as some dubstep (just the wubwub), Mainly Hard Trance and a hint of Hardstyle, but definitely leading in Hard Trance. Very fitting title. This song is definitely going in Overdrive. ;)

@Daymack continued..most hardstyle Djs back in 2001/2002 spun alot of hard trance in thier sets and it wasnt until 2003 that hardstyle was properly defined. By that stage most of the sets were all hardstyle oriented and that was mainly because at 2003 the scence had more artists to produce it.

Pre-commercial dance music was before their time. You can't fault them, because the industry can't sell them on something there's no profit in. And if a track is timeless, then there's no reason for them to buy the "newest thing" in three weeks when they're tired of listening.

@Daymack This is not how the early hardstyle scene started at all, that is fact. Look on discogs are anything, it's labled hard trance. Infact i have talked Frank and he has told me in his own words that he has never produced hardstyle. Early hardstyle is just a term to give some limelight on the shitty HS we have today. The fact you even call this hardstyle shows how much you know mate. When hardstyle came out, it was similar to hard trance, but you can tell the difference.

@winbolo Yes but that makes no difference to this actual tune. Hardstyle may of came from hardtrance/hardhouse and hardcore, but that makes no difference. This is hardtrance, no if or buts about it mate.
