*UPDATED 12/02/2019* - There is NEW FIRMWARE Available on DJI's website for the DJI FPV System (ie. Controller, Goggles, and Air Unit) which fixes many issues. Looking at the release notes the new firmware fixes an issue with the DJI Remote Controller (RC) which reads as follows (The New DJI Firmware is v01.00.02.00) ; "Added support to connect the remote controller via USB cable to PC to play the simulator. (The simulator software needs to support USB HID input)". My newest KZitem Video on this is here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1nyB0W2ifGijlJg

Yes, the SIMULATOR software (ie. LiftOff) lets you practice flying your FPV without the threat of it actually crashing. It's all simulated just like actual pilots use when learning to fly a Commercial 747 plane. It's very realistic and highly recommended so you don't waste a lot of money crashing the real thing.

@@RGMGFitness Interesting. Is tarted with the Spark, flew it in high winds and realized the limitations. Then, I went to the Mavic Air with the knowledge, I never crashed, except in my own house where I was in ATTI mode. Does this simulate losing the drone if it gets too far away and the home feature kicks in? Also, as I am wont to do, can I try flying inverted and do crazy stunts or does the software kick in and not allow me to do so? I haven't tried that but, if I could perfect it, virtually, it'd make for a really cool party trick and video! :)

No disrespect to anyone here but as an avid hobbiest and multirotor flyer, builder, Etc I really believe one should actually build a quad that is equipped with GPS and prove it works before being allowed to fly. The reason being is because after 8 years of being involved in just the multirotor industry (30 years in Rc aircraft) I’ve seen some pretty stupid shit ! Guys that are able to just go out and purchase a setup generally don’t have the respect and common sense, the first thing they want to do is see how high they can go, they typically don’t consider neighboring homes, cars, Etc and also don’t think battery life ! This is only my observation and doesn’t apply to everyone, the folks that invest time in learning and building, understanding their equipment generally have more respect and just good old common sense.

What type of Operations System you using (Windows vs Apple)? Is Remote Controller fully charged (100%)? Are you getting flashing red led on the cable itself? It should show as "UNKNOWN" in the menu selection but once configured it should recognize it. Also, might want to double check you have the newest version of LiftOff running and it doesn't require any further updates. Again, I only tested on Windows machine so hopefully that's what your running. The first time use use the controller the manual says to give it a full charge. I left mine overnight the first time as I thought it wasn't working at first....after letting it sit overnight for the full charge it started working. Hope that helps...

Your shows as 'PPM Device" and mine simply shows as 'UNKNOWN' in the LiftOff Controller settings. You should be working from what your saying. I found very little on the internet which is why I posted the video. You could try searching for an updated driver but I didn't need that. Not sure what else to try...I would say post something on the DJI Forum (I started a post there already) and let DJI know it's an issue. Unfortunately, it's the only cable I've been able to test.
