Great tutorial, thanks! When you record D-Log M (in my case DJI Mini 4 Pro with ND-Filters) video, does it make sense to just leave camera options at Auto? Or will this ruin or make color grading worse? As a beginner I don't have much experience with Pro settings, so wondering if Auto was an option. 😊

My pleasure dude! Auto will make things tougher to colour grade as the settings are changing while you're filming. Best to lock them in and make sure the exposure is good when you start filming and then you can / have to adjust every time the light changes or you move significantly.

Using the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone, DJI D-Log M mode, the Rec.709 LUT (Lookup Table) DJI gave us is not suitable for direct HDR video production. I tried to make HDR many times, but the color gamut required by HDR is Rec.2020, DJI can't provide Rec.2020 LUT, and no company on the Internet provides it. We must understand that Rec.709 is a color space and gamma curve designed for standard dynamic range (SDR) video, while HDR video uses a different color space (such as Rec.2020) and gamma curve (such as PQ or HLG). kzitem.info/news/bejne/qqh-uaZ4pGpzeoY kzitem.info/news/bejne/yWps2mqgsqmclH4

Hi Zac, thank you for the tutorial, it's really helpful. There are lut available at DJI website to convert D-Log M to rec 709. May I know if is there any particular reason that you follow another method?

Hey dude! I much prefer to have full control over my grade. The the conversion lut does a great job to get you closer to an end product though!

So whenever I add a mask to L color, the rest of my edits disappear so I end up having to add an adjustment layer and create a mask under opacity. How are you able to do this without these extra steps?

Another great video. Really gotta get my color grading lessons in. When you do your own color grading do you relay a lot or half on presets

Thanks dude, appreciate the love! I do 1 of 2 things, I either grade like you saw and then apply a lut and dial the intensity waaaaay down or I start with a lut, see what it looks like roughly and then kill off the intensity, adjust contrast and white balance then slowly increase the intensity until I get it to where I want it to be!

Hey thanks for the info! Is there anyway to color grade on the iPhone or do you need a good computer to do it?

Not a good tutorial, a good explanation to your process though. Beginners go away cuz he just says ‘and then we’re gunna do this’ and then he says ‘that looks good, next!’ And beginners are left staring clueless haha
