Very detailed review 👍🏻👍🏻 I think there was a problem with the scale, those cameras can't be 340 grams (oficial numbers are 146 something). I guess it was tared at 194. But anyway excellent video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hello sir. I have yet to watch the video (which I'm about to do as we speak), but would you recommend this action camera over the Elgato Facecam (regular/MK2/Pro) when using it as facecam for streaming purposes? I currently have a Elgato Facecam non-(MK2/Pro). Where I live the Elgato Facecam Pro costs around 20 to 30 bucks less than the DJI one. Looking forward to your answer and TY for the great content!

@@blueCollarGuy great! btw: Is it true that in order to use the DJI action camera you must first activate it through an app? I personally hate this kind of thing cus I basically need to agree with a lot of stuff in the license agreement I would normally not agree upon. I just want to use a camera out-of-the-box. No hassle/questions asked =/

@@JustAnotherYou2ber it is true that you must activate it through the app. You have five chances. After that you have to have the thing reset. The app is one of the problems that I don't like with DJI is that it in the must be sideloaded you can't get it through the Google Play store so I'm not liking the app. In that respect I will give them praise on customer support. However, anytime I've had a problem, they've always addressed it very quickly. Still waiting for a firmware update on this, but I have a feeling they're trying to coordinate that in with the release of the insta360 Ace Pro. 2 to I don't know some kind of strategy I guess not sure on that. Very informative video! I'm planning to use it as a Webcam. Easy question: what cable do you use to connect it to a computer, in my case MBP. I'm thinking of using it with the gostream m2, but it only has hdmi. Can I use a normal usb c to hdmi?

You need a UVC to HDMI converter. Obsbot makes one I did a video on it under DJI pocket 3 video switcher. The gostream 4 channel has one built-in but it's a bit slow.

Really interesting review. Can you do a battery test with action 5 1950mah battery inside the action 4 and vice-versa? I own a dji action 4 standard and I'm thinking about getting an adventure combo action5
@blueCollarGuy
25 күн бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. I do know that the efficiency of the DJI action 5 Pro is better because they're using a lower bitright in a different, more efficient sensor. This prolongs battery life. The DJI action 4. Won't have the same opacity however if you were to take the DJI action. 4. Energy consumption and divide that by 1770 and then times that by 1950 you should be able to come up with a rough estimate of how long that newer battery would last
@blueCollarGuy
25 күн бұрын
If you were to take 1770 and divide that by 120 that would be filming at 4k30. That would be 2 hours and then times that by 1950 you should get roughly 132 minutes. Camera efficiency and time will depend on many factors, but that's my best rough estimate

The pocket 3 started out the same. They did a firmware update and changed it later. They will most likely do the same thing with the action 5 pro. I mentioned in my video they should have also put a micro HDMI out. Hopefully the pocket 4 will get that improvement. Thanks for watching.

@@blueCollarGuy "They did a firmware update and changed it later." What?
@blueCollarGuy
18 күн бұрын
@@Wave_Drop The DJI osmo park 3 had a firmware update so that it could do webcam mode in 4k30. I don't think they're going to do that with the Action 5 Pro because a lot of people won't be using it as a webcam and it's only going to really be using for streaming when people are out and about linked with their phone given the fact that when you're out and about 1080P streaming is difficult enough can result in glitchy and choppy footage because it all depends on the cell tower that you're locked on to. If you're getting 5G or LTE that sort of thing, they did it with the pocket 3 only because some people are using it as a studio cam and therefore they're using their home internet which could be a lot faster. Unfortunately, unless your home internet is quite fast, streaming in 4k is almost unusable and undoable because you're going to have all kinds of problems. That's why a lot of video switchers are still running 1080P the other problem is a lot of people can't afford to stream in 4k cuz you'd have to sign up for super high ultra fast speed internet

They changed the chipset so it can function at a lower bitrate. If you were getting artifacts please let me know. That would be an indication that the bitrate is too low. They said it optimizes battery life. They say it also contributes to overheating. They can fix it with a firmware update. I'm going to hang on to mine to find out how the firmware changes things. The DJI mic 2 was improved greatly with an update. Thank you very much for the comment. Love to see the footage if you have a link. Take care.

@@blueCollarGuy If a firmware fixes it or gives option for higher bit rate, ill get it, personally I'd like the OLED bigger screen and better photos. ( im not to bothered about photos as i want it as a video cam for a backup camera and for easy B Roll for my underwater videos. The D log is essential for underwater work, for very shallow and top side shots the normal mode was fine on the 4, the 5 is too harsh HDR look, so it then becomes work to grade it out.

The DJI Action 2 camera recorded at 130 Mbps. The DJI Action 5 records at 100 Mbps. If DJI does not improve the image quality and speed, it will be a great shame for the company. Thank you very much for your very interesting conclusions.

@@blueCollarGuy I agree with you. I think DJI used a faster processor. At the same time, the company lowered the bit rate. At the same time, the company used a battery with a larger capacity. This resulted in the Action 5 having better operating parameters - it overheats much later and works longer on the battery. It sounded attractive, right? For a vlogger, such parameters will be sufficient. However, at the moment, the image quality is very disappointing. The face looks like a mannequin mask. And this is visible in various testers - not only in yours. The recorded video is matte - in my opinion worse than Action 4. Maybe a software update will correct this defect. I am very interested in buying Action 5. And I will probably buy it as a successor to Action 2. But at the moment, this purchase would be a bad spend of money.
