There's a bit of talk in the High Voltage To7 discord about noises coming from the DM02. For a while I was concerned but the more I get familiar with them the more I think they maybe another 'freak' byproduct of the controller and firmware and not so much a direct issue with the motor and bearings.
To7 haven't offered much explanation so we'll wait and see. To7 have continued to replace genuinely faulty motors so I'm not worried by the noise so much as curious... and having a clear preference for them not to occur... especially the 'budgies'.
I've also played a bit with the controller programming, experimenting with the Power and E-Assist settings in the Speed&Power menu. Some of the displays require two hands to change through the Eco/ City/ Sport Modes so I've played with the idea of 'one mode does all' from low level assistance to maximum assistance. What I've got works well enough for me and there's massive amounts of room for tweaking/personalising.
I commute by e-bike 90% of the time. My commute includes poorly serviced winding hills roads. As a shift worker, sometimes I commute in the day, sometimes at night and too many times to count I've had kangaroos, rabbits and deer run out in front of me... even had a roo jump over me. Too many times to count I've nigh shat myself. So, I want LIGHT and I just got a new one from Ali Express and bought an equally heavy duty switch which is directly powered from my battery. You can be the judge.
I had CapCut auto generate the subtitles so... we get what we get and we don't get upset and I won't do subtitles that way again.
