Writer Dmitry Glukhovsky has released a new book, “We. Diary of the Fall,” which the publishing house called an attempt to answer the question “What happened to Russia.” Present Time spoke with Glukhovsky about this book, the true purpose of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the benefits of ultra-conservatism for the Putin regime, the influence of propaganda on Russians and the coming total mobilization of the country - “transferring the mentality of the nation to a war footing.” According to the writer, Russia’s transition to a stage is not far off when the government will stop pretending itself and allowing people to pretend that everything is normal. In the interview, Glukhovsky suggested what the consequences of the war would be for Russians and what the future awaits the country.
