Hi, a newbie question for home personal network : My ISP does not allow other DNS other than its own. I want to use other public DNS. How can I do that? Should I cascade two routers in series therefore the first router is used for incoming ISP connection (fixed DNS) then the second router (that I can set to use public DNS) is used as access point for all devices? I greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.

I am guessing that if your ISP blocks DNS you won't be able to install a local DNS server either. You may need to access DNS using a proxy or VPN to get around the ISP blocking. However, this may breach their terms and conditions.

Thanks for the video!~ What happen if I use service like dnsmasq in pfsense router? Internal client forward dns request to dns forwarder in pfsense and the router query external ISP dns for information. In this case is this setup secure? do I need DMZ like shown in the video?
@itfreetraining

Essentially the ISP will see the public IP Address only. So regardless if you use a DMZ or not, the ISP will see the public IP Address. The advantage of having it on a DNS on the DMZ is that it gives a little more security in that it is potentially harder for some to hack. DMZ you would tend to use in companies where you need some additional security, however small networks and home networks you don't really need it.

+Godescu John Are you referring to the demilitarized zone (sometimes referred to as a perimeter network)on the network that is externally facing?
