Great educational content as always. I’m still confused as to the why people can’t support the content and critique or teach the teacher. I always learn something new watching the videos. Keep at it!

Every lake has its own crappie that bite differently. But at night time, live minnows is the way to go. Sunrise & sunset id go jig if the bite is good.

Sounds like fun, minnows are hard to beat at night as is soft plastics depending on where you are fishing.

Great video. Some real nice slabs there. Awesome. For me personally it is all about jig and soft plastic combinations. I have not use live bait of any kind for crappie in thirty years or so and wouldn't have it any other way. To me they are the most universal bait/lure. They can be dead sticked, with little or no motion to the jig, or they can be trolled, vertical jigged, bounced, etc. As far as slabs preference, I still would go with the jig and plastic combination. I spend a lot of hours fishing with or near other anglers and rarely do they catch more slabs on live bait. Of course that is just my personal experience and could very well be the total opposite for many anglers. I think it is often dependent on what the angler is most comfortable with. Thanks again for a great video.

A friend of mine fishes a local Arkansas lake. He fishes jigs and his wife will only fish minnows. He always switches to minnows when she is catching 5 or 6 fish to his one. If fish are scattered, you can fish jigs faster and cover more water. If the crappie are concentrated, minnows will catch more fish. If Crappievwon't bite minnows, load your boat and go to the La Casa.

How have your pole set up slip bobber with weight?and how far you got bobber set

The tiny split shots add weight to keep the bobber vertical and we change the depth of the slip float depending on the fish and where they are located in deeper weeds or shallow bays.

Sorry we don not agree, certain baits will outproduce live bait 100-1 especially in very heavy cover like brush, very shallow brush when single pole jigging. Appreciate you watching. Live bait is a very popular method, lots of times, but not every time.

I have a small local lake thats full of big gills and crappie. Everyone uses plastic or minnows. After talking to the biologists and learning they have worked on increasing the mayfly hatch i started using a small piece of nightcrawler on a no6 mosquito hook under a pencil bobber. Kinda matching the hatch imitating a emerger like a fly fisherman. Crazy i catch a lot of big gills around 2lb biggest this spring was 2lb 6oz on my kitchen digital scale. Crappies run 14-18" had one so far over 19 and was 2lb 13oz. In another 2weeks ill be switching to catfish in the same lake. Its a sleeper for channels the average in their survey netting is 8lb. Its a limited runoff lake with very clean clear water.

Depends on fish activity. If it’s slow live bait will probably catch you more. If it’s fast action the lures shine because you can catch 20 or more on a little chunk of plastic and only have to stop to adjust a knot or plastic a few times. I prefer plastics and lures and haven’t touched live bait in probably over 10 years. Only exception is spikes and waxies in the middle of winter through the ice and that’s mainly for bluegill. There are some forms of live bait rigging that take skill but for the most part I like to refer to them as “bait dunkers”. Give me a hair jig, a small crank bait, and a jig and plastic and I’ll give you a limit of crappie.
