Your description of the Aghan translators was so cringe!! The US and UK had 10 years minimum of constant legal and media cases raising the issue of translators and their families needing to emigrate due to death threats. We FINALLY got our Model X on 9/14! Been watching your videos since the beginning. The stars aligned and we did it. We test drove a 2023, and I really had to look at IF it was worth the extra 40k over a used Raven (2020). In the end we went with the Raven and I couldn’t be happier. One thing (game changer) is the LACK of interior camera. I kept on getting false positive attention alerts while wearing sunglasses and using FSD. It was so much of a problem that AP/FSD was almost not even worth it because we were so worried about getting locked out if we picked up our phones or whatever. While the rear screen would be NICE, I felt like the lack of audio control (I really do NOT need to hear their videos) diminished the value of that back screen. Thanks for continuing to make great videos!

Great review, Kim. I don't have a Model X, but do have the 2022 Model S with the yoke and I can very honestly say that it has become my favorite feature as well. Once one gets used to the different technique of the yoke it becomes second nature and is a real joy to use thereafter. We have a Model Y (my wife's) and on those occasions when I drive it, its round steering wheel is almost slightly awkward to use. I've found it mystifying when people pass adverse opinions on the yoke after just an hour or a few days of driving it -- it does need at least 2 weeks to get used to it, but then one won't want to go back to the wheel!

You should either just push the inside button to close the door or just walk away and let it close itself. If you reach in and push the button, there is a slight delay that lets you step back before it closes. I think it's a lot easier than pushing the handle. Most of the time though, I just walk away and let it close itself.

I had a 2017 MX P100DL for about 4 years and thought it was a great car, but I was disappointed that Tesla did not update the Model X body with the refresh. The refresh S gets wider fender flares, updated matrix headlights (better than the old LED), and updated taillights. The falcon wing doors certainly have their downsides: opening them in parking garage can be very tricky due to low hanging pipes/concrete and when the doors open they still draw a lot of attention (good/bad). I now have a MYP and a 2022 MS LR. I think the Model S LR is the best car Tesla makes. Over 400 miles range, 3rd fastest Tesla behind the Plaids, very comfortable, good looking and sporty.

Kim thanks for highlighting some of the glaring deficiencies with the new Model X. The lack of the voice command functionality is just silly. You forgot to mention the loss of the energy tab. If you haven’t tried it it’s gone. The drivers door is just Wonky it’s hard to describe sometimes it opens and then just closes sometimes it won’t open all the way. And my wing doors don’t always open full in my garage despite the fact i have them set to always open at that location. Because the S&X are both low volume vehicles I think the model S&X customers are taking a back seat to the 3&Y users. I see the logic but you really have to be a Tesla Fan to not be upset about paying 30% more and being the last to get features. Anyways thanks for the balanced review.

I think it’s funny that people sell their existing car thinking they will get their new car within a month. People did that with the Rivian. They did that with the plaid model S and model X. And I have seen that a couple times with ice cars over the years. Me personally I keep my old car for over a month incase there are things on the new car that need fixing. I'm also glad you've learned to like the yoke. I still wonder, however, besides the benefit of being able to clearly see the binnacle without obstruction, how does it actually *improve* steering…? Have you tried backing up a trailer with it yet? One thing for sure: with that eye candy wrap, I bet you're getting more rubber necking than usual when you're out in traffic.

The horn placement is a very serious safety issue in my mind. I've been driving a Model S with the yoke steering wheel for almost a year. In an emergency, you don't want to think about where the horn button is. Or if the steering wheel is turned, then the horn changes location on you. It's happened to me lots of times now where I've needed to alert other drivers, but couldn't get to the horn fast enough.

Thank you so much for posting this video, and I certainly agree that those things you mentioned certainly should get done and get done quickly, and so I'm really surprised that Tesla would’ve have gotten these things done before you actually got your car, because I think you would agree that they’re fairly obvious issues here that could've easily been done in the production phase of this vehicle, and I would love to know why it wasn't done. So in reference to that horn press it most certainly should've been set up in the traditional way, but the feature I most hate is the sound of the horn, and I don't understand why we simply can't have different horn sounds just like we have different ringtones for our phones, I mean after all this is 21st century technology we’re talkin about here, and that should be an obvious feature on any new car, no matter the manufacturer and to think that there are still people buying ICE cars that have none of these features is just unimaginable to me. Cheers🥂

I've had a 2021 Model S for a year now. The buttons on the steering wheel are crap. You can't easily put on the signals whilst going around a corner. The horn on the yoke is ridiculous. They need to put the horn back on the airbag. Whilst the shape of the yoke is great for freeway driving, it's terrible for twisty roads.
@DanFrederiksen

The display should be in the yoke. It's so obvious yet no one is doing it yet. You don't use an ipad far off to the side, it's right in front of you. And it can be in the yoke and the airbag can get out of a bar at the bottom.

We love our refreshed Model-X, however what happened with Careoki!?!?? Every other Tesla car has it, but not the refreshed version. Spot on with the horn and other problems. For closing the front door, we push the button on the inside and quickly get out of the way while it closes. Picked up our refresh late June after waiting a good year and a half -- December 12th was our order date. After 3-4 months, still have not seen another one on the roads in the Seattle area.

In many ways the 2022 X is much better than our 2018. It feels more solid due to the improvement in the suspension and it doesn't creak when it goes over speed bumps. I also feel like the regen brakes are a little different too but in a good way. Ours came with the tilting screen but it's not really a big deal for us but nice to have. I really don't care for the yoke steering wheel. I can't seem to be able to find comfortable hand placement, the turn signals seem touchy, still pushing the middle for the horn rather than the small button. One other pet peeve for me is the side mirror button. I like it in the door for quicker access rather than going into the screen. Also Tesla no longer offers the sunshade and the extra charging cables but since we did order early the car is worth what we paid.

The other issue is they all look the same, they never changed their design. It could use a different look if they are going to refresh the Model X. Other car companies do this after so many years. They are copying porshe with this, porshe has stayed true to their design since the beginning. Anyways I love your video reviews keep up the great work. Thanks for the great review. I hit day 500 waiting for my new Model X today and was just pushed back another 5 weeks, so I'll be waiting a bit longer. So I'm getting my fix watching your review. 🙂 I'm still on the fence about the yoke steering wheel and removal of the stalks. It isn't a show-stopper for me since it's now pretty easy to find after-market round steering wheels. I figure if I don't like it I'll just replace it. Just wish it was a Telsa offered option...but you can't have everything. My biggest concern with the yoke is that I do loan my car to others a lot, and the unconventional controls are going to be a safety issue until you're used to it. Same concern with the turn signal controls and the bad horn placement. I see them as an needless distraction. I have the 2016 Model X with the 6 seat configuration but I'm switching to the 7 seat. The thing I didn't like was not being able to fold down the middle row. I use my Model X more like a cargo van than a people hauler...except when the in-laws, kids and grand-kids come to visit and of course, then I am the chauffeur. I'm really looking forward to the active noise cancellation. On the freeway, the 2016 let a lot of road noise into the cabin that is otherwise so quiet because it's electric. I don't think you mentioned the amazing front windshield. Whenever I get in any other car I always feel a bit cramped. For my daily driving, I think that is the feature I like the most (after the full electric drive train). I still have a reservation for a Rivian R1S as that really is a better fit for my needs. I'd really love to be able to install a roof rack for extra camping storage, and it would be nice to not have to bring along my "portable" battery bank. I'll keep my options open with the Rivian until closer to the delivery date...whenever I get an estimated date. I think the battery, drive-train and charging tech in the Tesla is just so far ahead. I think Rivian is about where Tesla was back in 2016 when I got my current Model X, and Tesla has just made so many major advancements in the last 6 years. I think it will be 10 years before Rivian can get to where Tesla is today.

The wrap on your car really turned out great! One thing I love about my 2017 Model X that I will really miss when I eventually replace it, is the 6 seat configuration. I really love that. So many nice changes save 2, the door handle, I completely agree, I use that all the time to close the door. I never really liked the door buttons in the Model 3, but that wouldn't keep me from buying a new one. The yolk, non-starter for me. So many things not to like about it and I find it very uncomfortable to drive and turn with only half the steering wheel. That's one thing that is so vital for driving the car that I would never spend that kind of money and hope I get used to it. Pointless "innovation" IMHO. Too bad that can't be fixed in a software update. I could also do without the falcon doors only opening part way when they sense a ghost. Of course that never happens when it's in the shop so they can't fix it, even though they did once, it came back after a few years.
