Valid points. Sassy is also trying to make sure people are safe, so I see what she means. I just don’t want people to be scared of visiting Nigeria. There are already too many negatives out there about the place already. No one will fix the place, we will have to do all the heavy lifting, the sooner we accept that the better it will become. I run a short-let in Lekki, Lagos and I go out of my way to make it an amazing stay. It is important to me and other host that people make Nigeria their holiday destination. Furthermore, Mexico, Jamaica, Paris, France, Morocco, London and many other placesI have visited and booked a short-let all have huge crime rates, but people still make them their destination. So yes there needs to be a balance between duty of care and still trying to maintain tourist or visitors interest in our locale. Let’s remember that tourism to a place like Nigeria that need all the help it can get is a huge huge income earner and employer. I wish you all the best.

Hi Sassy Great video and hugely helpful as usual. It would be great if you can do a video on recommended hotels on the mainland (GRA) and the island. The trouble with ratings on expedia or trivago is that they do not reflect the Nigerian factor. For example I read a review on the Lagos Intercontinental in VI does not allow you to bring in your own food and drinks to consume in your room. You may be with your kids and order some pizza and they won’t allow you in the hotel with it. The raison d’être given was that they had to make money on their own food which is bizarre. If you can cover say 3 hotels on the island and 3 in GRA that would be great. P.S Sassy I made it! :-)

We book a Airbnb in Ikeja. 5b/5bath, gatemen, gens, cable, and internet. I recommend it but I won't give the address for safety for new travelersbut I'm sure you can find it with a search. I felt safe. Family was able to stay with us. I REALLY wanted to stay in VI but my husband said no :(

For a first time visit neither are safer because they still won't know the areas as some hotels might not be in the best of areas. I think not travelling alone or being alone while there is key. It's very unfortunate that travelling to Nigeria has now become such a big risk.

Sassy eye made it! Another insightful episode. Always live your best life within your limits. I would include certain listings on the mainland as decent values as well. The caveat being that you get what you pay for. A $12 /night Airbnb in Ikeja ,or $400/night stay at The George Hotel in Ikoyi. The difference is like night and day. I suppose the question is what is money for? Lol #Luxurious

Hi am Nothern Nigerian just passed through lagos once. How secure are the hotels in Lagos? Am used to staying with family in Abuja but the North isn't so safe. But I missed home and am considering staying for a month in Lagos, 2 weeks with my friend, two weeks at a hotel. Any advice? My friend owns a hotel in Lagos but no security guards. Am abit concerned about staying there.

Honestly speaking I disagree with you about only booking places with at least 5 reviews,. Speaking from experience of someone that enjoys travelling at the end of the day everybody's standards and taste is different, some people give inaccurate information based on different reasons so, as long as the pictures and listed amenities are stated I'm good to go,... in conclusion I don't think people should base their decisions on reviews and comments left by previous guests, I'm just saying.
